A majority of UI developers are playing catch-up with Microsoft's UI technologies that appear in Office and other applications. Microsoft, in my opinion, have standardised UI frameworks to death. I'm just wondering, why should it be like that? Surely if I were designing all the controls from square 1 they would look nothing like Microsoft's? I am calling on all developers who have ideas of non-standard controls that can be used in lieu of ones imparted on us by Microsoft conditioning to share their ideas here or to email me (mezastel@hotmail.com).
