Simple question really: In your humble opinion do you think it is wrong/sinful/evil/degrading to see another person - a stranger or someone who is not your wife/husband/lover/family - in the nude? Do you think it leads to harmful thoughts or actions, perversions or other wrongful states? Obviously the question is relevant to seeing nudity in moderation. Anything taken to an obsession is harmful. Now currently in society we are still at the stage where there are those of us who do view the nude form but will vehemently deny it, even describe it as "digusting" just to avoid embarrasement, ridicule or stern words from others (who often are just doing what you are doing because it is the done thing.) So if thats you rather not reply to this, or just be honest and tell the truth. And while it would be nice to not bring religion into this, I realise that cannot be done as if your religion says something and you are faithful then that is how you live and think, personal opinion is not an option.

Something that I like to point out whenever someone gets into a religious argument is that if you read Genesis, it's blatantly obvious that God wanted Man to go around naked. It was the Devil (working through the snake) that caused the whole apple incident that made Man ashamed of what God gave them. In other words, Christians wear clothes because the devil told them to :-D (Of course this is meant to be flamebait, so please don't take offence if you're reading this!) -- Help me! It is mine and of my making and to be ashamed of it would simply be undermining to me. It reflects my habits and ways in life, and if there is anything to be ashamed of, it is those habits and ways of life, not the flesh result of them. My girlfriend has a beautiful body and has nothing to be ashamed of. How does another viewing it confer shame to anyone? I am just curious :)

Reverend Stan wrote: I don't know of any religious text which mandates uncategorically that "Thou shall not look upon a naked human body or surely thou shalt burn in hell for all eternity". So then why (and I pick Christianity because it is the religion I am closest to in my daily life) do Christians (preachers, followers etc.) preach that it is so wrong? Where do they get it from? Have they mangled the meaning behind Adam and Eve covering up? Is it just yet another example of Christianity being abused by us?

Well certainly the Bible alludes to the impropriety of nudity. But, for example, there is no 11th commandment - "Thou shalt not view your neighbor naked" I think the problem from a religious perspective is that the nudity is usually presented in a sexual and not an artistic context. It is the sexual aspect of the state of nudity that is objected to, not the nudity itself. I've certainly never heard a preacher say that it is a sin to look at Michaelangelo's (sp?) 'David', for example. Again, society might have a vested interest in prohibiting nudity for reasons which have nothing to do with religion - think of all the pubic hairs you would find in your french fries if everyone went around naked! I'm not a real reverend, I just play one on CP.

Anything taken to an obsession is harmful. Not at all. I don't think there's anything wrong with being seen nude - but if seeing me nude (even if accidentally) upset someone, then I'd feel bad. Most people will just laugh it off, which is exactly the way it should be. I've no problem whatsoever with being nude in front of someone (a girlfriend for example) who wouldn't take it the wrong way. Paul Watson wrote: Now currently in society we are still at the stage where there are those of us who do view the nude form but will vehemently deny it, even describe it as "digusting" just to avoid embarrasement, ridicule or stern words from others (who often are just doing what you are doing because it is the done thing.) So if thats you rather not reply to this, or just be honest and tell the truth. I think this is a sign of the way Society is evolving - and each country/region is different in that regard. Certainly, I don't hear words like "disgusting" used about nudity here very often! One day I hope that people will have less hangups about things like this so we can focus on the real problems in our society - IMHO greed, poverty and violence are tolerated way too much in the world today. :(( Paul Watson wrote: And while it would be nice to not bring religion into this, I realise that cannot be done as if your religion says something and you are faithful then that is how you live and think, personal opinion is not an option. What can be sinful is what the observer feels/thinks - Jesus made it quite clear that to think "lustful thoughts" thoughts was the same as sleeping with someone. If you're married, that's adultery. I've often wondered if His guidance in this and other similar matters was aimed at making society more stable. Viewed in that context it all makes sense (so long as we remember that we're speculating - none of us can know the mind of God). Anna :rose: "Be yourself - not what others think you should be"

Err as I said, "obviously there are limits." Cher is past my current limit (28 years older or something is a bit much.) But really I think my thing against Cher is that she is so fake. She has not aged gracefully, she has tried to "turn back time"* but has instead outdone Madame Tausauds' best work. X| If you had to ask what my limits are then obviously on the older side it is flexible, but 45 is about as far as I can think of going. I know a very sexy woman of that age who any man in his right mind would be pleased to go out with. It is more her attitude though. *shrug* * A co-worker loves that song. Everyday I hear "if I could turn back time!" yodling from his desk X|

I am by no means the worlds greatest looking guy, but I am not ashamed of my body.
