Nancy Pelosi takes aim at CIA. . .
-
. . .but blew off her own feet again. She seems bound and determined to prove just how incompetent she is and do her best to embarrass Obama at the same time. This afternoon Pelosi held a press conference in which she said the CIA misled her and Congress about the interrogation techniques in use in 2002-3. When pressed by a reporter, she agreed that she meant they lied to her. Now Oily's favorite sex fantasy probably thought the point of the press conference was to explain that she didn't make more of a deal out of her opposition to waterboarding because she was so strongly focused on the elections of 2004 and the need to have a Democratic President and Congress. That would have been something NBC would have reported as making great good sense and all the rest of the media, except Fox, would have bought into the idea that issues of morality and torture should take a back seat to the really important things in life like Nancy becoming Speaker instead of Minority Leader. But, because her elevator doesn't seem to be going all the way to the top floor these days, she thought she'd also explain that it was all the CIA's fault. And she wasn't satisfied with using words like "ambiguous" or "unclear." She flat out called her briefers, liars. Unfortunately, the CIA has memos which Nancy signed off on, detailing exactly what she was told and when she was told. Now that she has laid the blame squarely on them, these memos will come out - on background, perhaps, but out, nonetheless. And equally unfortunately, she didn't attend those briefings all by her little old self. As she begins twisting slowly, slowly in the wind, other Democrats will desert her, and even they will start remembering what they heard in these briefings. Watch for Jack Murtha - when he turns on her, it'll be all over except for the actual resignation "in order to pursue other interests." In honor of the folks who put up links to websites they've never seen, I'll let anyone who is interested google this one themselves. ;)

it does go as far of her brains though, not quite waist high.

it'll be fun to watch her twist in the wind as the CIA uses Chinese water torture technique (but with paper) on her.
Mike - typical white guy. The USA does have universal healthcare, but you have to pay for it. D'oh. Thomas Mann - "Tolerance becomes a crime when applied to evil." The NYT - my leftist brochure. Calling an illegal alien an “undocumented immigrant” is like calling a drug dealer an “unlicensed pharmacist”. God doesn't believe in atheists, therefore they don't exist.

Probably because they are. Porter Goss' recent statement, while very critical of Democrats, supports Pelosi on this point. Senator Bob Graham caught them in a lie when they claimed that he had attended two briefing when, in fact, he had not. The CIA had to concede that their dates were wrong.

Since Leiberman was not at the briefing, he could not, and did not, express an opinion concerning the veracity of the briefing.
