If parents argued the home remedy was a "retro-active abortion" they may have had more success.

Uh... Why is that more shocking than any other home remedy. People will try all sorts of crazy stuff instead of just trusting the doctors and pharmacists. My grandfather used to go for long walks as an attempt to self-medicate his chronic restless leg syndrome. Poor guy's dead now.

It's anecdotal, but every person I knew who had cancer, and had the choice, ultimately went home with drugs to manage the pain and waited to find out which way Pascal's wager was settled.

My father in law says the same thing. He has restless leg syndrome, and he has the shakes all over. He has to concentrate to stop from shaking. But after a 2 mile walk he's better. Short term of course.

Did all of them have early stage Hodgkin's lymphoma, one of the cancers with a 90-95% 5 year survival rate when standard treatment is used and essentially 0% without? Or did they have, say, late stage lung cancer with something like a 5% 5 year survival rate with or without treatment? Apples and oranges, methinks.

Chemo is an awful experience - if the parents want to think that there's alternatives to standard treatment that work just as well without the side effects, there's a whole lot of quacks out there willing to take their money in exchange for some false hope.

You sounds like you know what you are talking about. I suspect you do.
