Now we've got a Latino female who grew up in hell's kitchen as a Supreme Court Justice - or will have as soon as the political theatre closes down. Sotomayor is on record as saying that judges (on the appellate court) make policy. That will be spun as her meaning that they are the ones who set or break precedent with their ruling on lower court cases, but since she immediate followed her state with admitting that she'd get in trouble for saying it, I think the more obvious meaning is the correct one. She is also on record as saying that she will make better decisions than a white male would because of her background - which certainly suggests that the law is there to be interpreted with the heart, not simply understood with the head. Oh well, there's always a bright side: Stan will throw an apoplectic fit. :laugh:
