If I wanted to keep my job in the NY public school system, I'd make damn sure "other" had numbers higher than "black" and "Hispanic" put together - and with the NY school system being as ethnically imbalanced as it is, that might be hard to do believably.

I was to fill out an online survey from my employer last month about a performance award I received. It asked my how I liked management, working conditions stuff like that. My employment id was embedded in the query string of the URL. I of course said I loved management and the working conditions were great. The last question was '..what race are you?' and 'what is your ethnicity?'. They were separate questions. I answered for race that I was an 'American Indian' and for ethnicity I said 'Latino'.
