What do you do exactly?

Well, after 'helping' the other side of my family with a place to live and crap I lost my job because I wasn't able to show up one day because of an incident with my mom. I wasted all of my credit on them and they collect welfare. They used me like a fool. It pisses me off so much.
I was talking more about why did you stop freelancing computer support ? Family can suck. I told you about my being kicked out of home, so you realise that not everything has worked out for me, I've just made the most of where I am, and kept pushing onwards and upward.

I have extensive skills with computers. I can build them, diagnose and repair hardware and software problems. I can even completely take apart a laptop and put it back together, I replaced a laptop motherboard once. As far as programming goes I am mainly a hobbyist but I know the ins and outs well enough to make something decent.
So, instead of trying too hard to be a better programmer, concentrate on tech support type jobs. Do you apply for jobs like that ? The more skill you bring to the table, the more respect you will get from an employer. No-one is going to respect a fry cook, that's just a fact. If you do a job that anyone can do, they won't care how they treat you.

I got tired of being paid with a hit of pot instead of cash.

You can't fix them and they won't help you pull yourself out any rut. Forget about them for the time being. A lot of us have very ugly stories about our families but you have to forget about them for a little while while you take care of yourself.

Focus on your strengths then. Seriously. Advertise your skills and services on free sites like craigslist and be willing to take a little less and do a little extra until you can build up a solid referral network.

hat will be enough for me to really buckle down and get it done, a step forward. I would appreciate any usable ideas.
Ideas are nothing without effort. You honestly want to get ahead? You have to be willing to do things you don't enjoy. I paved roads in 120+ degree heat in Phoenix to afford school. If I am not mistaken Christian spent time working as an IT guy. Hell, have you considered plumbing? Seriously, a master plumber makes insane money so does a master Electrician. You have to be willing to get inclemently better week over week. That is the only way, in any society that people who are starting with a finical disadvantage can improve their situation without a miracle. You don't need to have a perfect plan to improve things, you just need to work and prepare yourself to make the best of opportunities when they present themselves. This also means controling who you associate with. Negative people or people who aren't going anywhere are nothing but a drain on energy and time.

Yeah, the big issue is, he's not willing to do the hard yards needed to get to a point where you can call the shots.

I can only assume that this means you were only working for friends and family.

I drown puppies, stone kittens, smash atoms, break windows, race snails and, write and direct fictional accounts of current and historical events and publish them via people who like to scream a lot on youtube.

What do you do in detail to make money? Since some of you like to brag how much do you make doing what you describe in detail?
They say we are in a recession leading to a depression, but I have more work than I can handle, I work for a great organization that allow me to work from home several days a week. All my kids are now in elementary school, so my wife obtained a job preparing food in the lunch room. She leaves home in the morning with the kids and comes back with them in the afternoon. Sweet. I am thankful. Right now there is a shortage of statistical analysts, specifically in the health care field. Unfortunately, they are sucking up web programmers ill equipped for to do this stuff (like me). My recommendation is to learn SAS or R. Get familiar with open source health care reporting tools like IBIS-PH[^], there is a market for people who can stand up one of these systems, configure it, and back load it. You won't be rich, but it's a fair living. But I hope I get to go back to web programming soon.

I'll collect the welfare now slave, since you won't give me any ideas on how to make it myself.
I've given you plenty of ideas in the past. You've not done any of them, because they involve actual work.

Then once I do figure out how to make some big bucks I will dominate you with my wealth.
Bill Gates is incapable of 'dominating me with his wealth'. I don't have any debt, which is the only way I can see for a wealthy person to set out to manipulate me.

It's not his fault. He's congenitally allergic to work. He'd blame his parents - if he could find them.

Nope, but they threw him out for being both a leech and an ass, just the way every boss he has ever had has done.

Nope, just sit back and smoke a little shit and wait for a great idea (one that costs nothing in time, money or effort to roll out) to appear magically in your dreams. I have it on good authority that's what all the really smart guys do.
