I probably don't post as much here as I have in the past. It seems much more hostile somehow and the ultra right wingers are just insufferable since Obama was elected. I never check the lounge anymore and only look in on SB 2.0 once in a while and haven't posted there since the switchover, I think. Never fear, you've always been insufferable but then, that seems to be your mission in life. Oh, since I have your attention. Smack!

Definitely less. I would never have reached 7k posts in one incarnation at my current rate. I find there are just fewer interesting threads in the Lounge and here.

I rarely post here any more. Anything programming related goes to Stack Overflow nowadays. The programming forums here seem to be full of people wanting homework answers - the quality of both the questions and answers on Stack Overflow is in a different league thanks to their reward system and active moderation. I used to live in this place and was always posting in the old Soapbox. Sensible debate has long since disappeared from here though and it's just one troll after another. In my opinion Code Project is in danger of being overshadowed by the new kid on the block. If the guys behind Stack Overflow put together a system where you can post sample code and applications then Chris would need to start worrying. I also no longer live is a MS-centric world and have no intention of jumping on any of their latest technology bandwagons just because they claim it's the way forward. CP is still primarily a place where developers using MS tools hang out, and as I don't really care about these tools any more, I'm less likely to pop by for a visit. I've had a great time here over the years, engaged in healthy debate, helped a few people out and posted more than my fair share of articles, but I can't see those halcyon days ever returning.

Sadly, I think that's a common tale. A lot of people mention stack overflow. I guess I should check it out, but I have been here for so long, and I worked for CP for a time, so I'd feel like I was cheating on my wife or something...

I post less compared to last year. It's because same questions are getting repeated, people are posting all junk questions and not responding or down voting when someone tries to help. By the starting of this year, I made a move to LINUX. So doing C++ stuff mostly and found it interesting. This is another reason why posting is less. But I used to read almost all posts in C++, C#, Managed C++/CLI and ASP.NET forums. :)

Yeah, it ceased to be of value to me a long time ago, too. I find that asking questions here, or on MSDN, is basically useless nowadays.

I got a decent answer from you when I posted a programming question in here - maybe we should ask Chris to start an address-concealed programming forum? . . .um no, we probably shouldn't.

Hey, be fair. Carson is a grumpy left-winger. So is Oily. I realised that I was getting sucked into sniping at or debating Ilion, CSS and Stan. It finally got through my thick skull that none of them were worth responding to, no matter how brilliant a bon mot I thought I could come up with. Unfortunately, it seems that there are some folks that stepped up to fill any void I might have left. Until and unless we can all start ignoring the trolls they will continue to dominate the posts and the bandwidth. Perhaps we three should reconsider our hands-off moderation?

I probably don't post as much here as I have in the past. It seems much more hostile somehow and the ultra right wingers are just insufferable since Obama was elected. I never check the lounge anymore and only look in on SB 2.0 once in a while and haven't posted there since the switchover, I think. I check the algorithms and graphics forums and occasionally answer questions or smack the homework cheaters there but they've been pretty quiet for a while. I check the articles daily but most of the new articles are C# and .NET and not relevant to me. The articles I read are usually about things like image processing.

I've noticed the same thing. It does seem more hostile when you post here.

Yep, I find it a little interesting how low some peoples tolerance is for the same medicine they dished out in copious amounts for eight friggin years. I have no sympathy for them.

I used to post here a lot, but lately not so much. It has become largely a private club for the narcissist psychotic and the white racist idiot and a few grumpy right wingers. There is little worth commenting on here anymore, and less worth reading...

I don't get this. There are like four of us. I'd say we've been outnumbered every day of the week here.

As far as I'm concerned Rob was/is an important contributer to this forum. His remarks were/are almost always insightful and usually far more temperate than (for instance) mine. I am sure he can make a contribution to any forum or message-based website that he chooses to contribute to, I would prefer that he do it here. If, on the other hand, the trolls want to "contribute" to other forums, I would encorage them to do so and would do anything I could to help them get out of the habit of disrupting this forum.
