Terry McAuliffe - big time Obama-style tax and spender and close friend of the Clintons who just finished a stint as the DNC chairman was badly trounced by an under-funded blue-dog Democrat who is pro Second Amendment in the Gubernatorial primary yesterday. Virginia, which went for Obama in the last election thanks to an influx of Democrats working in or near Washington DC, is actually considered by many analysts to elect a Republican as governor this fall, suggesting that possibility that the bloom is off the rose when it come to the present Administration - at least in the swing states that went Democratic in the last election. Creigh Deeds also beat extreme an extreme liberal who was running, so one explanation of his win is that the other two candidates split the liberal vote between them, while he picked up the middle-of-the-roaders and the conservative rural Dems. Nonetheless, McAuliffe was heavily favored to win a couple of months ago and outspent his rival during the election by a 10 to 1 margin. He ended up with less than 25% of the vote, which meant that he spent almost $100 for every vote he received. Deeds will face the Republican State Attorney General in the fall - a man who beat him for that post by less than 400 votes two years ago.

I'm on an obvious downer today so you'll have to excuse, but it simply doesn't matter. we should all trot on back to pasture and wait to be shorn.

Mike - typical white guy. The USA does have universal healthcare, but you have to pay for it. D'oh. Thomas Mann - "Tolerance becomes a crime when applied to evil." The NYT - my leftist brochure. Calling an illegal alien an “undocumented immigrant” is like calling a drug dealer an “unlicensed pharmacist”. God doesn't believe in atheists, therefore they don't exist.

One of the things that has gotten me into trouble all my life is that I am just plain bad at waiting to be shorn. I must've skipped school the day that was covered. ;)

Try to keep in mind, Mike, that this is not altogether a bad thing. We have gotten to this point by means of progressive incrementalism, going back over a century. But the incrementalism is now over. This is it, their big chance to fully implement their agenda. Things will never come together like this for them again. So, fine. Its all going to fail and we and our country are going to suffer for it. But there is a brighter day ahead. The clouds will part and liberalism will be dead at its own hand. There may be a lot of good that dies with it, but that just means rebirth.

Chaining ourselves to the moral high ground does not make us good guys. Aside from making us easy targets, it merely makes us idiotic prisoners of our own self loathing.

Stan, I certainly hope and pray you're right. My gut tells me you're right.

Considering that the only other possible outcome is that the collectivist are correct (in which case we will all be able to never work again and have our every need taken care of by all benevolent, all caring, kind and devoted government bureaucrats) I'd say your gut is probably right.
