Hi everyone, I've been searching and asking around about getting some Microsoft Certification and it's really easy to find out what certification I can get and what things I want to study. I think the MCTS, Web flavour is the way to go for me. However, if I put this forward and try and get corporate buy-in, I have a feeling I'll hear that increasingly annoying phrase "Well, in the current economic climate we can't..." (this is usually when I ask for the overdue pay-rise). So, if I can find the most 'inexpensive' way of doing this, I've got a better chance of being sponsored by the people with the money. I'm a very self-motivated person and pretty quick to pick up most concepts, so I'm confident I wouldn't need much (if any) face-to-face classroom time and I could prepare myself for the exam using just the recommended material (books), supported by the ever ubiquitous Internet. I've been looking around at places in the UK trying to find somewhere that will just allow me to walk in, sit the exam and get certified, but have as yet been unsucessful and can only find places that will sell you the material, 100's of hours of classroom time and the exam at the end of it (usually with a guaranteed pass...). So, my question to you guys (I got there eventually) is can I just pay for the books and an exam? How much would it cost (ballpark)? And does anyone know a reputable somewhere in the UK that does this? Cheers for any help and here's fingers crossed that I can sell this to the Organ Grinders. Dan.

You can just get hold of books and study at home and then directly register for your exam only and clear it. For locating the exam center and the exam fee, visit the site http://www.prometric.com/Microsoft/default.htm and for clarity of exams and topics visit the site http://www.microsoft.com/learning/en/us/certification/cert-overview.aspx Hope this helps you.
