Population control in general

Since some on this board have found it favorable to control the population I thought it worthy of it's own thread. To start off the discussion a few questions came to mind. What methods of population control are ethical? How do you motivate people to control their breeding? Who decides what is an acceptable method for population control? Who gets to decide the number of people there should be? What role does human rights play into it? My responses: I would prefer simply a cap without any exceptions, except natural. Not going to jail would be a good one. I would rather have a law that prohibited more babies than a tax, because taxes are a class war tactic or igniter. Taxes that make it easier for some to have more of something than others only benefits the rich or better off. Science should be able to tell us this. Human rights in this are very tricky. Basically you have people telling people they can't have kids or as many. I'm not thrilled with this, and I would prefer voluntary reduction most of all. If you can't have kids adopt. There's no reason to make more babies when there are plenty looking for good homes and parents to raise them. This is where I expect some to say kids aren't a right and others to say the opposite or at least imply it.
We don't need population control. On inspection everything is fine. Neighbors are fine. People at church are fine, even cow-orkers are cool. Lots of trees around, grass, birds, I have foxes and deer roaming the back yard... Now don't get me wrong there are lots of annoying people about, but they will always be there no matter what the population is.

And just what color is the sky in this little utopia of yours? In just the last week there were stories in all major news outlets about drowning polar bears, disappearing amphibians, a plastic sludge patch inthe middle of the Pacific the size of Texas... Oh, but absolutely. No way there are too many people. I encourage everyone to breed like rabbits. Especially the stupid. Nothing like mushrooming numbers paired with diminishing cumulative IQ.

Seems to me that China demonstrated one way to deal with the issue. Bitch all you like about their policy being a violation of individual rights, but the fact is they were confronted with a situation that was not going to go away, and which would have mean inevitable social disruptions like mass starvation had it not been dealt with. They've managed to get their growth under control and have recently begun allowing 2nd children to some couples in areas where only single child families had been allowed. The fact is that there are more people on the earth than it can support. Our current population levels aren't sustainable, never mind continuous growth. Inevitably, societies will have to confront this reality or perish under the weight of their own populations.

I have to confess to being a late adopter. I bought, for the first time a 4 gig MP3 player. Listen to my music, down load and listen to content I like. No time for the news, I suspect it doesn't really change much.

What is wrong with that? Although a generalisation, it is the case that those with money are better educated and have the work ethic, it is these people we want to breed, not the morons and feckless. You say it is unfair, but is it fair that I work hard to find money taken from me to be given to lazy arsed uneducated parasites who have been given 11 years of free schooling only to come out unable to read and write but who can breed and introduce another generation of parasites to follow them.

If he is so concerned about the government taking his paychecks and giving it to the welfare people he should rail against that. Little does he realize that welfare's real purpose is to degenerate society and get stupid people like him to go along with extremism. Population control has long been the goal of the elitists and the only way they can accomplish that goal is to get people to go along with it. If you pay someone to sit on his ass, he will gladly sit on his ass, pay him to produce something, he will produce something. It is as simple as that.
