Population control in general
-
Perhaps this will spark something inside you. This is about Monstanto. If this doesn't concern you then you are malfunctioning, because NO ONE should EVER have a total monopoly on the world's food supply. The GMO seeds actually crossbreed with the organic variants which destroys them and there is nothing that can stop it. That eventually forces everyone to buy seed every year which will kill off the small farmers who feed their families off of their own farms. [^]
Goodnight boring person.

:) Seriously, though, you mention birds around your house as a positive sign that the environment is generally healthy. Avian monocultures of sparrows or pigeons do not denote a healthy environment. In some areas of North America, 90% of certain songbird species have disappeared. If you're really unaware of this, I suggest you do a little research on the subject. You might find things are a little less pristine than you thought.

Since some on this board have found it favorable to control the population I thought it worthy of it's own thread. To start off the discussion a few questions came to mind. What methods of population control are ethical? How do you motivate people to control their breeding? Who decides what is an acceptable method for population control? Who gets to decide the number of people there should be? What role does human rights play into it? My responses: I would prefer simply a cap without any exceptions, except natural. Not going to jail would be a good one. I would rather have a law that prohibited more babies than a tax, because taxes are a class war tactic or igniter. Taxes that make it easier for some to have more of something than others only benefits the rich or better off. Science should be able to tell us this. Human rights in this are very tricky. Basically you have people telling people they can't have kids or as many. I'm not thrilled with this, and I would prefer voluntary reduction most of all. If you can't have kids adopt. There's no reason to make more babies when there are plenty looking for good homes and parents to raise them. This is where I expect some to say kids aren't a right and others to say the opposite or at least imply it.
wolfbinary wrote:

Removing financial incentives for the poor having more kids, which we pay for. By accepting that every child has a cost to society and the earth, and thus giving people the right to one child for free, a right they can sell and that others need to buy, to have more than one. Enforcing this by removal of rights in society, and not by force, for example, no right to free education, or services, or any sort of government handout, and an increase in taxes, if more than one is had without following the overall scheme.
wolfbinary wrote:

The same way we motivate people to breed a lot now. Money.
wolfbinary wrote:

That number is pretty much known. Less then we have now, which is achieved through one child per couple.
wolfbinary wrote:

Do you mean the 'right' of a person to have 10 kids on welfare, or the right of living humans today to live in a world that can sustain them ?

It doesn't matter how you want it or what your opinion is, its happening as it is outlined in the document below. I encourage you to take the 10 minutes needed to read it, it isn't that difficult.
nothing is happening. You are a moron. A ton of unrelated quotes is not a conspiracy, or even a plan.

We don't need population control. On inspection everything is fine. Neighbors are fine. People at church are fine, even cow-orkers are cool. Lots of trees around, grass, birds, I have foxes and deer roaming the back yard... Now don't get me wrong there are lots of annoying people about, but they will always be there no matter what the population is.
Is that your head I see buried in the sand ? Or is where you live completely self sufficient, growing it's own food, making it's own good, generating it's own power ? Unless you are Amish, this is ridiculous position to take.

And just what color is the sky in this little utopia of yours? In just the last week there were stories in all major news outlets about drowning polar bears, disappearing amphibians, a plastic sludge patch inthe middle of the Pacific the size of Texas... Oh, but absolutely. No way there are too many people. I encourage everyone to breed like rabbits. Especially the stupid. Nothing like mushrooming numbers paired with diminishing cumulative IQ.

That's been there for a long time. It's just on the news now ?

It's true that extinction due to overuse of resources is natural. It was happening to the Incas when the Spanish showed up. I wonder if they were glad to die 'naturally', or would have preferred to live ?

What is wrong with that? Although a generalisation, it is the case that those with money are better educated and have the work ethic, it is these people we want to breed, not the morons and feckless. You say it is unfair, but is it fair that I work hard to find money taken from me to be given to lazy arsed uneducated parasites who have been given 11 years of free schooling only to come out unable to read and write but who can breed and introduce another generation of parasites to follow them.

Yes, this is plainly true.

You must live near me. The girls at the local primary school, when asked about their career, said 'we'll be pregnant and on benifits by the time we're 14'.

I am not so stupid as to fall for little mind games. When you spout out pure hatred towards your fellow man of all races and religions as you are saying that there needs to be population controls that only permit the "smart" people to breed through tyrannic totalitarian controls it becomes pretty evident whats going on inside that sick little head. Anyone who is a proponent of population controls declares himself to be the enemy of 95% of the rest of the world. They think they are better than everyone else and are the only ones who deserve to live normal lives, they are delusional.
It's astounding to me that you're stupid enough to jump consistently from what is clearly said, to this drivel. You have no grasp on reality.

Genetically modified seeds are a concern, because of copyrights. I agree with that. I also agree that heritage seed lines, with greater disease resistance, are a better choice. however, it's because of morons like you who think the world can feed any random number of people, that we need genetic modification to try to start another green revolution. Without the last one, we'd already be overpopulated and starving. What you want, is a total world war. That's what will happen when the food is running out.

Again, because I can read ? The amount of arable land we have is shrinking. Our fish supplies are being hunted to extinction. There's already species we used to eat that we don't, as there's not enough left. There's been a food crisis over the past year, largely because of corn used for fuel ( which is insane ). The amazonian forests are being cut down at increasing rates, to grow this corn, and soy. We live on a finite planet, we will run out of fish, out of forest to cut down, out of land to overuse and turn to desert. That's just common sense.

Monsanto is leading the way with their "round up ready crops". They mix with the local farmer's organic crops which destroys their genetic makeup which really hurts the farmer, and if that doesn't do away with him Monsanto will bankrupt him because some neighbors GM crops spilled over onto his land. Then you have the pesticides polluting the land. You are a POS retard. It has nothing to do with saving the planet and everything to do with maximum profits and control over the worlds food supply.

You are the biggest fear mongerer of all. If the fish supplies or timbers supplies become low, then the price will go up accordingly, its called supply and demand. Trees grow back, water doesn't disappear, land constantly changes and so does the climate.

You are a moron. Land that has become over used, dies. That's why the deserts get bigger. Supply and demand works for trinkets, not for food. People do not decide to stop eating.

People back then were happy to die on their feet than live on their knees. That is true for many people today. The global warming bullshit is not going to go through, people aren't that stupid so forget about it.
