Hiding Destop Icons

Does anyone know how to hide the desktop icons? I'll need something that works for WinNT/2K/XP, even if they are different means to the same result. I've been mucking around a bit trying to find a way, but so far today I've come up with little (ok, nothing... yet). : Dean 'Karnatos' Michaud
