[Reality Check]The ADL’s Three “Extremist Conspiracy Theories” In Context And With Evidence
-
The Anti-Defamation League has published a fresh report directly targeting Alex Jones as an “extremist” and “The King of conspiracy”, lumping in the information contained on this website with the actions of racists and white supremacists. There is, as usual, one major problem with the ADL’s report – it is devoid of any empirical fact and based entirely on the group’s desire to create the impression that huge swathes of politically disgruntled Americans are violent conspiratorial-minded bigots that they must expose and counter. “With conspiracy talk-show host Alex Jones leading the way, one of the most disturbing trends in 2009 has been the resurrection and proliferation of some of the same anti-government conspiracy theories that so riled up domestic extremists in the 1990s.” the ADL writes. The organization defines three major issues as “conspiracy theories” that exist only in the mind of paranoid delusional extremists. They are: • Imposition of Martial Law. The federal government is plotting to declare martial law in the near future as a way to strip Americans of their freedoms and institute the New World Order. The government may utilize or even manufacture a crisis, such as the swine flu epidemic, in order to have an excuse for imposing martial law. • Gun Confiscation. The government is plotting to embark upon a massive program of gun confiscation, going door to door to take firearms away from American citizens so that they will be unable to resist the New World Order. Police, the military and even foreign troops may be used in the gun confiscation efforts. • FEMA Concentration Camps. The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) has constructed hundreds of concentration camps in the United States, designed to hold “dissidents” and other American citizens following some imminent crackdown such as a declaration of martial law. Let’s take each one of these topics and provide some much needed context that is sorely missing from the ADL’s slapped together hit piece. With regards to martial law and the idea that a crisis could be used to impose it, the ADL should consider speaking with Democratic Congressman Brad Sherman of California’s 27th congressional district and Senator James Inhofe of Oklahoma. Sherman has been a member of the House of Representatives since 1997 and also serves on the Committee on Financial Services along with Texas Congressman Ron Paul, whom the ADL ludicrously refer to in their report as “a far right icon”. In early October 2008,

Time to briefly address points. Be warned, if you reply by copy-pasting another ten-page rant by famous-in-your-mind spin doctor Uncle Alex, I won't bother to respond. Gun Confiscation: * If a bunch of nutcases are firing on civilians, is it wrong to confiscate their guns? * Do you really need more than a pistol to defend yourself in this country, or more than a shotgun or non-automatic rifle to go hunting? State of Emergency: * Obama declared one because of Swine Flu, yes. In doing so, he specifically stated the reasons for it, and exactly what would it would be used for: Enabling the production of more vaccines. There was nothing sinister about it. Threats of Martial Law: * Speaking as someone who was basically on the "inside" during the credit meltdown of last year (Despite having no control over it), I think if that $700 billion stimulus package (Or something similar to it) had not passed, there WOULD have been an economic collapse. It wouldn't have been overnight, but the death spiral was already in progress. A threat of martial law was probably more than a little exaggeration, but the economy really was in trouble. * If martial law was declared for no reason, don't you think someone would notice? Even if Obama was evil, as you seem to think, do you think he has an army of brainwashed zombies to implement his evil plans? No, he has the US Military, which is comprised of thinking individuals. Even if 25% of them blindly follow orders, as was discussed in an earlier thread, that leaves 75% of the most powerful military machine in the world to recognize the situation and oppose it. See, the problem with conspiracy theories like AJ, is that it would take tens of thousands of people working together to make these conspiracies function. The more people involved, the greater the risk of a leak. Does the government participate in some shady dealings here and there? Of course. Corruption in government isn't exactly a new concept... To quote JFK, "Power corrupts, and absolute power corrupts absolutely." Your problem is that you see everything in black and white, and this is somewhere in between. Are there problems? Sure. Is it a giant conspiracy to take over the world? Only in your mind.

Nerf balls into the wind. I suggest you actually read and follow links. Asking pointless hypothetical questions that I will not waste time answering, and reaffirming your loyalty to WallStreet and the Federal Reserve will not help your position. Go read the documents and stop making shit up based on your imagination. The facts are laid out nice and neat right there. Until you read it, follow the links, and get your ass informed your replies will continue to be based on ignorance. Lets get some facts strait. The majority of Americans are not for central banking and wall street corruption. They are hopping mad about the bailouts and all the other looting that has been going on for quite some time. The majority of Americans do not subscribe to New Yorkers attitude that America needs to be more like Europe. They are sick and tired of being ATM machines for the welfare class and the corrupt money'd class, damn sick of it. We the People are not a bunch of children that need to be told what (and what not) to do (and what to believe) by the government. The majority of Americans are extremely angry about how they are talked down to by the people who have a bad case of superiority complex, and how their intelligence is being insulted by MSM and the politicians. The majority of Americans are waking up to the fraudulent left-right paradigm that has been used to keep everyone fighting with each other. They know that the real enemy is the vast money powers consolidated and delegated by the central banks around the world that use governments as an outlet for their power, along with the power they get by controlling the money in the first place. Incredibly vast numbers Americans are buying up weapons and ammunition to the point where manufacturers cannot keep up with demand, and this has been true for over a year now. Who are the people propagating all of this anger and destruction of Americans wealth and country? The corrupt politicians and money powers that you hold so dear, you help perpetuate this nonsense. You can't except all to be rosy in your little world as your country falls to pieces because of your money master friends up in their ivory towers. Let me fill you in on something Ian. I'm being very serious here. You are not part of the elite. Remember that. You will suffer along with the rest of us once they are done using you. Remember that.

The majority of Americans probably don't care either way about central banking, and "central banking" does not necessarily require "bailouts", so being against bailouts does not mean being against banking.

That's funny... Most of the New Yorkers I know are against welfare, because we pay some of the highest taxes in the country.

So you think they'd rather Uncle Alex tells them what to do and what to think. Gotcha.

I would have agreed with you, until you yet again mentioned the banking system. The oil companies, gas companies, media conglomerates, special interest groups... Those are some of the real problems. I do agree that the bipartisan system is a real issue, but when are you going to get it through your head that central banking is not the bloody antichrist?

And if those programmers knew what was going on in that fund, they deserve to be thrown in jail with their old boss. I, on the other hand, write software for a legitimate hedge fund with real investors and real returns. Yet again, you have failed to frighten me. Out of ammo already?

You can't respond to the real issues, so you make another desperate grab at my profession. At least have the honor to admit defeat. My respect for you in this context might even rise above zero.
