If the people claiming that gun buybacks cause crime and gun deaths can be shown to be liars, if the people claiming that airport scanners are taking full body nude pictures are proven to have known they are lying, then what sort of moron would continue to believe these sort of conspiracy theories ?

You throw (i.e. "argue") like a girl. And, we've all seen how you "prove" that someone is a liar -- you assert it, and that settles it. But then, since you are yourself intellectually dishonest, I guess it stands to reason that that method works for you.

I'm sorry, I was not talking to you. I was talking to intelligent people.

You mean like below where I kept linking to sites that discuss how the claims of the gun lobby are lies, and explain why, until CSS ran away like a scared schoolgirl ?

      Rubbish

I love it when you say this. As it has no coherent meaning, nor have you ever provided one, I guess it means whatever you want it to mean. I wear it as a badge of honour that someone like yourself feels the need to try to insult me, and fails at it so badly.

I can't help if you are illiterate, or stupid. Perhaps you should email CSS, I think he might actually be hurt if you try to offend him. He certainly seems like he'd accept any meaningless thing you say as fact. Esp if you post it on youtube.

A deeply indoctrinated moron. By the way, did you see that 8 people have been killed today in a single incident in America...from gunshot wounds? What percentage is that of Australia's total deaths by gun per year? A lot I would guess. :suss:

I found this online: The study tracks the 10 years following the introduction of gun law reform in Australia between 1996 and 1998. The legislation was prompted by a firearm massacre in Tasmania in 1996, when 35 people were killed and a further 18 seriously wounded. The reforms banned the use of semi automatic and pump action shotguns and rifles, destroying more than 700,000 weapons taken from a population of 12 million adults. The study shows that in the 18 years before the legislation was passed, there were 13 mass shootings in Australia, in which 112 people died and 52 were wounded. There have been no mass shootings since the law came into force. The fall in the number of deaths associated with the use of firearms, including suicides, rapidly accelerated after the law took effect. The decline was at least twice as high (6%) as it had been before the reforms were introduced. In the 18 years prior to the legislation, on average, 491 people took their lives, using a firearm. After the legislation, this fell to an average of 246. Similarly, the number of murders using guns fell from an annual average of 93 to just over 55. There was no evidence that the use of other methods to commit suicide or homicide increased. Before the introduction of the law, the overall number of homicides not related to guns had increased 1% a year. After the law took effect, this number fell by almost 2.5% a year. And the total numbers of suicides fell by 4% after having risen annually by 2% before the introduction of the gun laws. I had no idea we've had 13 mass shootings in total, I can think of 4. In contrast: Since 1976, an average of 18 mass fatal shootings have occurred yearly in the USA. 55 murders a year, means that 8 is nearly 15% of our yearly total. To be fair, the figures are not quite as stark when you adjust for levels of population. From Daryl William's letter to Charlton Heston asking he stop lying about Australia: The 54 firearm-related homicides in Australia in 1998 equate to a rate of only 0.28 per 100,000 people. I have been advised that this compares to a rate which is in the order of 4 per 100,000 in the USA. So, that's only 20 times higher. No matter how you look at it, that does not equate to greater safety or security.

Yes, I was in Australia when Martin Bryant went nuts in Tassie. While I personally thought the terms of the gun buy back were onerous in some contexts and it was by no means handled properly by the Police (in NSW at least), It is without doubt that it made a huge change to crime rates. Unfortunately, Sydney and Melbourne are awash with hand guns, mostly being brandished by young 'wanna-be' 'merican gangstas. (But too gutless to shoot each other  ) What I find disturbing is that the US shooting today was 15% of Australias total annual gunshot deaths, and the victim count was relatively light compared to others.

Yeah, no matter how you slice it, these mass shootings do away with the 'per capita' comparisons, on the basis that we don't have them at all, since the buy back, and we had them so rarely before ( some of those 13 have to have been gang wars, I don't see how else the number could get that high ), and in one fell swoop, then kill a significant percentage of all the deaths we have in a year.

Ilion doesn't have an intellectual atom in his body so I prefer my more direct version. ;)

You do not ignore him you daft twat. You carry on with you c#ntish assertations and never answer his valid points. Like above. So go on then you dickless twat, answer him fully with a reasoned argument.

If the people claiming that gun buybacks cause crime and gun deaths can be shown to be liars, if the people claiming that airport scanners are taking full body nude pictures are proven to have known they are lying, then what sort of moron would continue to believe these sort of conspiracy theories ?

Someone who's not been able to get on in life in the way they thought so rather than fixing it or accepting that they have their limits, comes up with other explanations as to why they are unable to achieve their goals. Acceptance is usually the harder option but sometimes you just have to accept that you cannot build a Cold Fusion Powered Rocket Pack Propelled Iron Man suit in your garage because you're not Tony Stark.

Pah! Old technology. I have a Zero Point Energy Pack wired to a Stargate Device in my toilet. I'd show you it if you like but you better give it ten minutes.
