Hi. I want the client to download a file to insert data. when he/she clicks on the file, data is inserted from the file. The reason is that there may be no one to type in the insert statements for this. I was thinking of using a batch file to do this. Is it possible or are there better alternatives?

Depends what sort of application are you building? but generally i connect using a connection string which you can read how to make them up from Connection Strings
