I am curious to know if anyone out there is forced to use some soft of time tracking software to keep tabs on what it is your are working on? Or if you are not forced do you use something on your own? I have used an excel spreadsheet in the past but I am looking for something better, and I would like to use it across the entire team. Any thoughts and/or ideas will help!

      Yup, using a webbased time tracking application. There's an ASP.NET starter-kit here[^].

You could move the data to a database. I've been playing with the idea of tracking the time that my MSN-Messengers' status is set to "busy" and to link that to a project. Never made it past the idea-stage though :)

For your team it is better to use following time tracking software. http://epiforge.com/Grindstone2/[^] It is freeware and tracking time task wise. There are also many other tools available but this one satisfies most of the time tracking requirements for particular task whether we track that particular task daily or one time. I am personally using it.

SORE SPOT WITH ME! Yes, I have to track my time in TWO systems actually, and project progression dates in one 'system' and via weekly spreadsheets! Man, I HATE THAT! Sorry for the venting...

Are you tracking the time that you are wasting on the redundant time-tracking mechanism?

I've tried out a few tools, but finally I was spending more time time tracking, than working ;P Yes, that was ironic ;) I use excel, for me it is the simplest and most powerful tool. Phil

I won’t not use no double negatives.
