Engaged
-
The company I work for decided to revamp the criteria for employees to achieve their goals and thereby receive their annual bonus. Now I can achieve 100% of my goals, but get no bonus at all if my manager feels that I was not "engaged" as part of achieving my goals. What the heck does that mean!? I told my manager that I drive an hour and a half just to get to work. Once I walk through the door I'm officially "engaged". Based on his reaction I don't think I'll be getting a bonus this year. :((

you should hang an "Engaged" sign at your door and work undisturbed. :)

When I read your post I thought “What a great idea!” So I printed a sign that read: “Please do not disturb. I’m currently engaged.” and hung it on my cubical entrance thinking what a smug and passive way to make my point to my manager. About five minutes later a coworker poked his head in my cubicle and congratulated me on my upcoming wedding. The sign is in the recycle bin now…

Attach a wav of Jean-Luc Picard saying "Engage!" to your all your e-mails to remind people of the need to be engaged.
Unfortunately for me, my boss has already discovered this "engaging" idea and has used it to end some of his meetings. I'm convinced at some point he will use the Vulcan salute and say "Live long and prosper", at which point I will be obliged to shoot him -- and my phaser will not be on stun. ;)
