Now that's barring the different kinds of gas and oil so this is a bit of a simplification. That doesn't seem to me to be very efficient, but since the oil only contains so much for that kind of fuel. I suppose that's how it goes. It does speak to how much actual oil it takes to make gas though.
That's called seagull management (or sometimes pigeon management)... Fly in, flap your arms and squawk a lot, crap all over everything and fly out again... by _Damian S_

There are many other things that are made from oil, other than just gas. Significantly more than 46% is converted into revenue generating products. :)
