I've actually been eating a fair bit of good ole' English Fish and Chips lately. There's a pretty decent place in Fort Collins I've been hitting for lunch while taking the cat to the vets. I don't know if I'd want to live on it for long, but it beats the hell out of the typical American fast food crap.

Good fish and chips is damn tasty. I usually make it with a beer batter myself, it goes extra crispy and gives the batter a subtle yeasty taste.

This place does the beer batter, has the genuine bitchin' vinegar, and a nice selection of British brews. And free wifi. All in all, not a bad place to kill a bit of time.

Nor should anyone else be! I will argue and disagree with you on any subject you like, but life choices and personal preferences would never be part of the argument. (Unless that was the subject for discussion, but not in an insulting way).

... so I am renting a room in a house in LUxembourg and there is an Italian guy here who eats, get this... Fish Fingers and Chips! ALL THE TIME! Now this I find ammusing. OK, fish fingers are OK (mind you he cooks the crap out of them) but given the general disdain we hold for English food compared to Italian food (Jamie Olivers rant about school diners for example) I find it highly ammusing that a member of the supposed cullinary super race actually likes stuff like this! Mind you the French guys here cant cook worth a shit either. Not surprised they are so thin. The bastards.

The real question is what does he put on them? I'd go with either mayonnaise, tartar or ketchup

Fish fingers and chips.. hmmmm how I miss thee. The closest I've got to that is Fish sticks (same thing as the cheap fish fingers) and steak fries. What I really miss is fish, chips and peas. Now if I could find any decent places in New Jersey that served a good battered cod with chips and mushy peas like the chippy from back home, I'd be in heaven (and probably desperate need of exercise!)

Thats a decent chippy then. So, what else have you tried of our food? Curries? One word of advice, dont go for a Phal. It will kill you. Unless youlike seriously hot! Chinese takeaway is another favourite. Sweet and sour pork is the classic, not that its done very well. Other really Ebnglish food is pies. Steak and onion, steak and kidney, chicken and mushroom. When good they are damn tasty. Oh, try a fish pie if you get the chance, its another English classic. (And I hope you have tried the real ale?)

The wife makes a pretty decent curry, actually. One of my faves. Chinese was good back in California, but I think it's pretty much unknown in these parts. And the place in Fort Collins does an assortment of meat pies, too. I haven't worked up the nerve to try one yet - been sticking with the fish and chips. ;)

Oh dont worry, I have had my fair share of rampant totty aswell! :) Now, lets discuss manliness. 1) Can you fix a car? 2) Can you do DIY? 3) Can you do serious DIY, like putting steel beams in supporting walls? 4) Can you drink with the best of them? 5) Are you coolheaded when the shit hits the can? Ah, see, I am deffinitely more manly than you! :) Of course I also cook alot and play rock guitar. Not sure if thats manly or not.

I really don't know. I mean, how do you define that ? I've not been shot at or anything like that. I can certainly take charge and face down someone who trys to threaten me ( although I know I can't back it up ). But, I'll say perhaps on this one

I hope so, because I do both as well :-)

So, I am deffinitely more manly than you then because I have built three cars, one off road buggy and two road cars (and I mean built, from the chassis (steel) to the body work (GRP)), and have rebuilt a house in France, including structural stone arches! Nah, so there! ;) (Oh and as for the Black Adder line, its common English in fact.) Anyway, I must be a man, because I love chain saws. Seriously, they are the dogs!

Yes, I need to get mine out to chop up some logs left over from some work done while I was away.
