Parents who smoke in the presence of their kids are idiots.

I don't, for you, but there are aimless dim people who may take your argument as truth. It has happened before where uneducated goat-herders have had shite taken as law. (qv Bible, Koran etc)

Well it is a fact that most people have been killed by closed minded cockswillers who think that god is on their side. Meanwhile, those with brains get on with reality and deal with the problems we have, regardless of whether a chap has a cigarette in his mouth or not. I actually cannot think down to the level of people who do not see that the universe is one of scientific laws. So to say that smoking is bad is crap, especially as the people who are likely to say that probably drive cars.

It happens all the time, maybe the majority of the people simply choose not to think for themselves because it's easier that way?
Then the dim need educating. And certainly not by shit books of doubtful origin, but by scientific papers showing how what they do is an abomination.

Yeah, that's probably true. I don't get, as a parent, how parents justify 'do as I say, not as I do'. I mean, if you smoke, why wouldn't your kids ? If you drink all the time, why would you expect your kids not to want to try it ? How can people who swear all the time expect their kids not to ? And so on. The easiest way to be a parent, is to be able to say 'don't do things that I don't do'.

I don't smoke. But my parents did. Neither does my wife. But her parents did. And in our youth there was no stigma attached to smoking. But we do understand how easy it is to succumb to peer pressure. 'There but for the Grace of God' ...

Summed it up nicely... Did you 'discover' god, or did your parents brainwash you?

Strangely enough, everyone I know who is clever, smokes. I belong to a group of pub quiz winners, minimum entry is a good degree, and all smoke. Even Sherlock would admit a hard problem was a three pipe problem. If you think smoking is a sign of stupidity, you are mad. True dimness is only apparent if you have beliefs in afterlife or god(s).

I am so glad that your brain is addled by alcohol and a reduced blood supply, otherwise I would never solve a CCC. (Not that I ever get up before the solution is posted.)

I have never believed in God, merely a quotation.

No, my parents sent us to Sunday School so that they could spend 'Quality Time' together. :)

You must think very little of me if you think I'd stoop so low as to bother replying to that. Smoking is an intelligence test only for people below a certain age. Even then, it's probably more a test of common sense and ability to resist peer pressure. People of a certain vintage had no idea what smoking did to you, when they started.

People of a certain age knew that being soldiers may shorten your life. It never stopped me from joining up. Or is your argument that Anyone Who Signs Up To Be A Soldier Is An Idiot Too? There are many things that shorten life, but not all of them are bad. I choose to smoke. I also chose to jump out of airplanes. I also decided that being a soldier was fun. Life is about risk, without it, life is boring.

I predict that the dim will refuse education. Or they will look in the face of science, and still deny it.
No denying the fuckwits will rule the earth. Luddites and Antiscientists will force humanity into a technological backwater that will lead to extinction. Change or die is the creed of life.

I'm sorry, if you're so lacking in common sense or decency to know when what you say is stupid, or that you're being an ass, I'd prefer not to participate.

You really should. Take a puff every hour or two and you will have a substantial increase in mental capacity. It is better than coffee. If I had some I'd smoke.
