According to that same page, "war" is an intentional injury which kills men.

Hmm, that about sums it up, except that it kills women and children too. An unintentional war would be kind of interesting... "Sorry, we were aiming for that mountain. Was that your city?" "Hold on, did you say 25 degrees EAST or 25 degrees WEST? Err, really? Uh oh." "Hey, I'm just following orders. My CO said to walk this way and shoot everyone. See here on the map? ... What do you mean 'upside-down?'" And for the H2G2 fans... "I seem to be having tremendous difficulty with my lifestyle"

For the last 200 years Life Expectancy in the western world has increased by 7 hours, EVERY DAY! That is to say that a child born today will live 7 hours longer than a child born yesterday and 7 hours shorter than a child born tomorrow! Don't believe me? 7 hours per day * 365 days = 2555 hours per year = 106 days per year 106 days per year * 200 years = 21200 days 21200/365 = 58 years. So life expectancy has increased by 58 years in the last 200. As life expectancy in 1800 was 32 and life expectancy in 2010 is 83 it is close enough to be accurate. (Ok it may work out at 6 hours 40 odd minutes, but it is still amazing that life expectancy increases so much!)

------------------------------------ I will never again mention that I was the poster of the One Millionth Lounge Post, nor that it was complete drivel. Dalek Dave

I found while doing genealogy research that if you survived your youth the life span of most of my relatives from the 1700's and 1800's is pretty much the same. Between 60 and 90 years of age +-. I think that more babies died way back when and they do an average when they figure life expectancy. Of course I could be wrong. :)

Life expectancy hasn't increased. It is a statistical inaccuracy due to the fact that infant mortality has dropped considerably, and the statistics you are referring to average in infant mortality. It is amazing how stupid you are. I guess your receipts from the quasi-government institutions that certify that you know what those institutions "teach" you are about as worthless as a 3 dollar bill.

The chart doesn't show the type of increase in life expectancy that Delek the Drunk stated. In fact, it proved my point, if you could survive to adulthood, then you would live about as long as we do now.

It has. I can expect to live about 5 years longer than a man of my age 50 years ago.

It is statistically correct. Because of infant and child mortality, a baby born in the USA in 1850 could be expected to live for 38.3 years, if it experienced the current age-specific mortality rates of the USA in 1850 throughout its life. However, a child having survived 10 years in the USA in 1850, could be expected to live for a further 48 years.

The probabilities of survival through each period are calculated from the dates of birth and death of the population. Not an average.

Personally, I think that the government is putting something in our water. Look at the results...every single person who drinks water will die! Some of us just have a better tolerance than others to what they're putting in our water...but eventually, it will kill us all!

No, it's not the water. It's the money. Every single country around the world has laced their paper currency with deadly, slow-acting toxins that will ensure that even if you live a perfectly healthy life, you'll eventually shrivel up and die. It's a global conspiracy, engineered by the Buildaburger group, Ben Bernanke, and the space aliens, in order to turn us all into brainwashed minions of the communist dictatorship of the government. And no, that's NOT a contradiction. They just changed the dictionary to make you THINK so :)
