I get laid off ... important meeting with my chief at 18.00 h, the company where I'm consulting , have a lot of debts to my employer company , they are bankrupt, they have received 4 proposals of acquisition, but this takes a precious time until the share holders decide , ... my employer is on a 25% cost's reduction fase, they didn't get any replacement project for me so far, so this could be a very pleasant monday for a hard worker that I known :( Cheers,Joao Vaz And if your dream is to care for your family, to put food on the table, to provide them with an education and a good home, then maybe suffering through an endless, pointless, boring job will seem to have purpose. A few years ago, I was in a very similar situation. The really bizarre thing that happened though, was that when the buy-out fell through at 10:30 AM, it wasn't me and the other contractor that were politely asked to leave, but rather all of the full time employees that the two of us worked with. All of them were literally laid off/fired on the spot. Each was given a formal paper package that had a final cheque in it and each was escorted from the building all within the space of 30 minutes. Because the other contractor and I still had two weeks left on the contract, management left us alone to come in every day. Instead of doing any work, he and I spent the time lining up our next contract. It worked perfectly for me as I ended up colliding with a very small, but flourishing consulting company who now gainfully employee me on a full time basis. I've never been without a contract since that time. Remember just cause a good thing comes to an end, doesn't mean that the next one can't be better. Good Luck. Chris Meech
