Windows Media Player 9 and AVIs

I have even been laughed at for being "sad" when I told someone last year that I woke up early on the Remembrance Day Sunday just so I could keep my own two minutes of aknowledgement at 11 am. Now I am not a violent person and have never been in a real fight in my life, but I was pumped so full of hormones at that single moment that that I could easily have grounded the bastard in one swoop had I not retained my self-control. :|

In fact I read hardly any technical books. One day I am going to build a house and in it will be the library room. Books from floor to ceiling, all around a big comfortable chair looking out through bay windows. Books rock. They don't give you kak. They don't crash, they don't need to boot up, they smell great and you can stuff them in a backpack without worrying. Of all the things I could miss, I would miss books the most.

Ok so I am now pissed off at MS. WMP 9 no longer comes with the AVI codes, so you cannot play AVIs. No notice, no warning, no "AVI support removed"! Bloody annoying. Now, I might be wrong here, but Nimo Codec Pack should do the trick for you. It's free (w00t!). http://nimo.everwicked.com. And of course you have the free DivX codecs on divx.com. And you can use GSpot 2.0 to see what codecs you need for a movie. Cheers, Fredrik

Give Media Player Classic[^] a try, its heavily based on WMP 6.4, but has a couple of extra features.
