I *think* Josh is just accusing the Pastor of hypocrisy rather than having it away with teenage boys. He [edit: the Pastor, not Josh!!!!!] will have been tub-thumping over homosexuality and how homosexuals are all going to hell. This is a particular bete noir of the evangelical churches. At least his conscience eventually lead him to do the decent thing, even if it is too late for the teens who committed suicide, it might prevent others from doing the same. I never got the whole anti-gay thing, even back when I was a church-goer. If you spend your time just reading the Old Testement it's pretty obviously negative, but the OT is exactly that, Old and intended for reference. The Gospels (as opposed to the New Testement) are all pretty much peace-love-be nice-treat you neighbour as yourself-forgiveness etc, and there is nothing written there that says Jesus said anything about the subject of homosexuality. If you move to the rest of the New Testement, Paul is pretty anti-gay, but Paul can't be considered 100% reliable.

No probs. I had something similar happened to me once, one person misread a reply, had a go, then everyone assumed that this misreading was what I actually meant. I thought I'd try and nip this in the bud for you.

Hang on, He was thrown out of a nightclub called "The Temple" (Probably named after Shirley Temple, and therefore a Gay Bar), for causing trouble, then was partying at a place called "The Garden of Gethsemene" (Upward gardening anyone?) where he was hanging about with his male chums. He didn't drink beer, like real men, he drank wine, probably rose, so you see, Jesus was Gay.

Real men don't use instructions. They are only the manufacturers opinion on how to put the thing together.

I'm more wondering if the continued occurrence of megachurch pastors being gay just plays into the gay stereotype of being attention queens or not. Though I do feel sorry for his wife, 21 years of marriage trying to change the person she married. And he seems a decent enough guy if he's actually doing it for his stated reasons in the article, where as a I can pull a number of quotes from other church sources either condemning the gay men who committed suicide, and others actually promoting it as 'the right thing' for gay men.

I got quite a good chuckle out of this. Oxymoron if I've ever seen one.

It should have been obvious... he is the pastor of a gay mega church after all.

He said, "Boy I'm just old and lonely, But thank you for your concern, Here's wishing you a Happy New Year." I wished him one back in return.
