[Disclaimer] This is just a thought on the subject, not a definitive statement based on research of any kind.... [\Disclaimer] Could it be that those who found themselves guilty of the same thoughts and/or actions and are now in authority protect those underneath them (pun not intended) who fall victim to the same? I agree with you, though. There can be nothing as tragic as this. And I mean, Nothing!!!

Truth is they don't have to live with themselves, they live with one another. Hermits with skeletons like that in the closet are less likely to survive, if they have a conscience that is.

Yeah he does that a lot. I think a lot of what they do on the show is garnered from the internet by various researchers who tend not to check 'interesting' stories once they stumble across them.

Good old Catholic faith eh? You can do whatever you like, and then go to confession! :) The Protestants take it all too seriously by comparison, far too seriously. How about Jews, do you have any kind of confession? Of course personally being a morraly corrupt pagan I just use the good old "dont be an asshole" rule of thumb. Gives me an idea, we could replace all religions, all mores, all religious constricts, the Ten Commandments even, with just one: "Don't be an asshole".
