http://www.telegraph.co.uk/technology/social-media/7964000/Grindr-combatting-loneliness-or-a-cruising-ground-for-gays.html[^] Language used in this article to describe this app and its impact: "damaging and self-destructive habits" "concomitant risks" "unhealthy and risky behaviours " "sucked into " "health warning" "creepy and dangerous world?" So then I thought. Where do hetros go to get laid? Hmm, nightclubs. So, thousands of people can go to night clubs, take drugs that remove inhibitions, with the general intention of having sex or finding a partner of some sort and thats OK, where as gays doing this is not? Isnt it really about time we rid ourselves of this ridiculous prejudice?

I think the article is TRYING to explain the dangers of "casual sex" in general, using this as an example because they probably couldn't find the corresponding app for straight people (I don't have an IPhone, but come on... There's probably one out there)... But yeah, it does come off as gay-bashing. Or maybe they did it intentionally to get more publicity...

Because it contained an article of interest to the habitués of Stormfront.org, apparently[^].

I agree, there's not a huge world of difference between sexual orientations when it comes to the dangers of casual sex with complete strangers. However I used to have a friend who had Grindr on his phone - in the space of a week he entered the homes of six different people, the extent of his acquaintance with each of them being a few short messages over the Grindr application. Needless to say, anyone who sleeps with six randoms in one week has got to expect something bad to happen, and sure enough he contracted two STDs (nothing life-threatening). What I was more worried about at the time is that he was going into someone else's house whom he'd never met with the intention of taking his clothes off and, to put it lightly, put himself in a vulnerable position - if this guy's a psycho then his 8-inch hunting knife is gonna kill you a lot quicker than the STD you might catch from the 8-inch dong he's been bragging about for the last 10 minutes. Condoms aren't stab proof! I guess this is the same for any sort of Internet hook-up website where there are relatively few (or none at all) public meet-ups before shit goes down. Maybe this is taken out of the context of a wider push to curb casual sex with multiple partners? Then again, maybe people still think of homosexuality as a disease.

True till 2003 - Since then heteros also use the net to find a sexual partner. In that case the difference is that IMO gay guys are more open to immediate sex, without even asking the name of the partner. It's not about love or emotion, it's about sex, and some sort of "objectification" of the partner being 'something' that gives pleasure - and there lies a danger. Due to the numbers of predators in the wild, women rarely have this attitude - way too dangerous for them, male sexuality is often aggressive. Heterosexual relations cannot be as direct - most of the time. More than having an anti-gay attitude, this article seems rather to have a puritan - sex is dirty - sex is bad - attitude. Something went wrong after the sexual revolutions of the 60s - and I'm not only mentioning the music.

how is it prejudicial to point out that risky sexual behaviors are, well, risky? Or dangerous?

Yeah, could be. I fond it laughable that these attitudes exists in this day and age. I wonder if the behaviour of part of the gay population generates this kind of response, and perhaps this kind of sexual laxity gets up the authors nose, but I doubt he would say no if it were women offering themselves to him! There seems to be so much more in the world to be concerned about though than what a few men get up to.

Cool, I prefer the smalls bars with a selected audience where you can rebuild the World rather than the industrial discotheques  where the crowd can't hear what the neighbor says.
