Remember that radio competition thing I raved about awhile ago? Well the CD I won arrived today (we use donkeys in our postal service and they have been striking for GM carrots of late.) We Are Skint[^] (or from Amazon) Damned fine compilation IMHO. Reminds me of the general feel you get from the Trainspotting album(s), but obviously a bit more up-tempo and modern. A lot of the "unknown" tracks really show FatBoy Slim up, though his stuff still rocks. CD1 is the better of the CDs (2 all together) but then I am getting old and the music curve has passed my tastes, so CD2 is a bit new for my liking (still some good stuff on it though.) Definitley not an album for pop or Bless Bridges lovers :-D Anyone else who has this CD, liked it and know of other CDs on the market along similar lines?

One of my fav tracks is on CD2 by International Pony: Leaving Home. That bit right at the beginning where it goes "cry like a woooooooooooooooolf" always grabs me away from my work and makes me stop and listen till the end of the track. There is a lot of other good stuff on there though - the Midfield General tracks, Satan Cruz (deliberate spelling mistake just for Paul and I's amusement), Stay in the Honeytree, and Battle Flag are the others that jump to mind as being pretty good. Not *really* the same, but still a very good series IMHO is the Another Late Night series. They take someone - usually not that mainstream - and get them to make a compilation of their favourite inspirational music. They call them Another Late Night because you can literally stay awake for the full playing time - no matter how tired you are - just to listen to the music. I also find them great for working to (as I do the skint CD). Really exceptional compilations I say, and I can't wait for the next one to come out.
