Hehehe... I wouldn't want to be filed under the "lady" category anyway, sounds like I should be wandering around in tweeds with a shooting stick. Debbie

Or if u have any reason ;) to say that ur not a LADy..... cheers, Super ------------------------------------------ Too much of good is bad,mix some evil in it

Debs wrote: do you reckon he's got us all queueing up now Yes, I believe so. Is that a hammer in your hand ? :-) Actually, seeing as it has been brought up, in a roundabout way, I am interested. Do you think that being female has hindered your pursuit of a programming career ? I'd hope not in this day and age, yet from time to time people post and express surprise that there would be females here, so I suppose this sort of sexism still exists ? Christian No offense, but I don't really want to encourage the creation of another VB developer. - Larry Antram 22 Oct 2002 Hey, at least Logo had, at it's inception, a mechanical turtle. VB has always lacked even that... - Shog9 04-09-2002 Again, you can screw up a C/C++ program just as easily as a VB program. OK, maybe not as easily, but it's certainly doable. - Jamie Nordmeyer - 15-Nov-2002
Christian Graus wrote: Yes, I believe so. Is that a hammer in your hand ? Nah, bare hands are far more effective... Christian Graus wrote: Do you think that being female has hindered your pursuit of a programming career ? Well, yes it does, and it's not surprising, is it? It's culturally engrained: it's not so long ago that women got the vote, in relative terms. I tend to react against being pigeon-holed by gender rather than ability, apart from for obvious biological differences ;) In one job (not this one!) I got asked to do the department head's typing as his secretary was ill, and I was the nearest woman. Hmmm...he walked with a limp for a week afterwards . Inevitably in an organisation where people with those attitudes are making decisions then you are going to be affected. Generally, however, my experience is that people (apart from the pillock with the limp) have not been sexist in terms of judging my abilities differently from a man. Debbie
