At the moment, Hobart is full of rumours of 'ethnic hitchhikers' who warn their ride not to be at a particular place on a certain day. My mother was on the phone to me yesterday and she asked if the Quran supports the killing of women and children. My answer largely was that any religion, be it right or wrong, once it has enough followers will be used as a rallying point for political purposes, and that people asking for that sort of loyalty rarely have the interests of others at heart. And despite our globalisation, a lot of racism still exists. Like al queda bombers are hitchhiking with towels wrapped around their heads, and warning their rides that a bombing will occur. Give me a break - this stuff just plays into their hands. A world were every Muslim feels embattled is what Bin Laden wants, so they will join his 'cause', which is religious war. It'll try to instill at least some confidence, pride and respect for others, plus tolerance in their minds, and make them get rid of their laid back approach towards life (get up and start working, dammit!). Totally non profit of course, and hopefully I'll be able to bring in some journalists, writers and good editors if I try really hard. :) Well, hopefully I'll have some time to actually start working on it soon. I'd encourage you to follow through with this idea. Through chatting with Nish and Smitha now and then I've been learning a lot about your country, and I'm finding it to be very interesting. I suspect that most Americans know only as much about India as they could learn from the movie "Ghandi" and the books of Rudyard Kipling. Damn few of us read, though, so I could be overestimating a bit there. While this was not my original intent, now that you mention it, it does sound like a good idea. Although the maximum I may end up doing is providing links to other tour operators and getting some commission out of the final deal. I am a programmer, and have no experience in the tour operator business, and I don't intend to venture there either. But the idea does have a lot of merit, and I will definitely do something about it. But still, the main emphasis will be on what I intend to put the site there for. Thanks for the idea though. :) Yes, there is no shame in doing something for money so you can eat. And there is no shame in getting a more comfy bed, air con, bigger house, bigger car, yatch, either. :) I'm all for earning as much money as I can. I mean, why not? I am not cheating anyone, I'm not doing anything wrong, I'm trying to give someone something he enjoys or finds useful in return for something I enjoy and find useful (money). Mmmm, your comment about eating reminds me, there is chicken chilly for lunch today. I'm off to lunch. :-D

Yeah, all those barbaric murderous soldiers in the various World Wars, etc. I have no faith of any sort in any deity, but a lot of people need one in order to be able to do such things, indeed some people need it just to give meaning to their lives "period". As everybody here I think it's disgusting so use God to launch a crusade for its own profit. It existed centuries ago and nothing changes. Perhaps not. When somebody like you stands up and says No, IMO it does matter. When somebody like you stands up and says No, IMO it does matter. As said an historian: "Thus, the future of the World depends perhaps today once again on this millions of individual wills, able by their courage and sometimes their sacrifice, to impose to the Order the respect of the Man. It's undoubtedly why, forty years after the end of the massacre, there's still in the frozen night a shining star which doesn't die: the one of the partisans."

Those of us well-balanced individuals don't want to go out crusading. We are lazy because we just want to get on with our lives, enjoy our families, better ourselves and keep healthy. Of course, there's nothing wrong with this, except that the lunatics out there have a much easier time making chaos, either as terrorists, or fighters of terrorists. You know the old saying - one man's terrorist is another man's freedom fighter... :(

 And no, this thread has nothing to do with Al Qaida. Look at these lines: "warned the festive season would see "revenge" attacks across the country" "attacks prior and during the festive season would be part of what it dubbed Operation Elohiem of Revenge. No explanation was given for the term "Elohiem". The word is Hebrew, and means angels" "We introduce ourselves as fighters of the Holy Father and the Boer nation" (ok, early giveaway) "The statement was peppered with Bible quotes and references to holy revenge on behalf of "the chosen people" " Why is it that all these lunatic fringes think they are doing God's holy work? I don't know about all religions, but certainly the Christian faith (which is what this particular group of people say they belong to) portrays God as a God of love and peace. At what point does bombing fit into this! More idiot fanatics[^] Ok, that particular article is relating to white right wingers in South Africa. Admittedly, I have been away for the past 8 months, but not a single member of my family or friends feel the way this group does. And yet they are in the news making the world think that all white SA's feel this way :mad::mad: So in this world of global communication (you guys living there at the moment should have a good idea of the feeling there and good input on this) is it worth setting up a site to discredit the way these ignorant arseholes are seen? Maybe show them (the ignorant arseholes) that the rest of us feel that the country has enough problems right now without a bunch of lunatics running around setting bombs off, even if they are strategically placed for minimal loss of life. Isn't one person killed one person too many? Isn't there enough of that? X| This sort of behaviour is only going to cause more anger, hurt and hatred. I wonder how they think (assuming they do think of course :wtf: ) this is this going to help the country's long term future. :((

Whatever happened trust, understanding and questioning what the media tells you? Fighting the effects is such a sad task, yet more and more we see we have to do that first before we can fight the cause. Ugh! As for the right winger nutter thing currently most of us see it as a desperate, sad, pathetic attempt by dinosaurs to reclaim their lost man hood. They know the truth of the future but refuse to accept it. Whether they pose a credible threat... I don't know. I feel pretty safe because I am white, but that is no excuse, yet it does isolate me from the real effects. I hope Mbeki cracks down on it (and he has been very good at not branding all whites as part of it which I appreciate) but I also hope it is a understanding, peaceful crack down because anything else will just push borderline right wingers over the edge and start a vicious cycle.
