French Warship Intercepts Single-Hull Oil Tanker[^] We should have sank it instead, in front of the coast of the country which registers this crap.

I almost agree with you. I wouldn't want to kill the wild life in/on the shores of that country. -- This space for rent.

It wouldn't have even been noticed had there not been a spill recently. I agree they should update these ships to be safer, but give them a chance to do so. If they refuse then people should simply not do business with them. Kaßl wrote: We should have sank it instead I assumes you weren't serious, just mad. BW "I'm coming with you! I know, but it would be perhaps efficient this time. Since 1967, we were hit by: 1967: Torrey Canyon, 96,000 tonnes of oil spilled[^] 1978, Amoco Cadiz, 260,000 tonnes of crude oil spilled[^] 1999, Erika, 26,000 tonnes of fuel oil spilled[^] Last month it was the Prestige, whose oil is still travelling through the Atlantic Ocean between Portugal, Spain and France. And nothing changes, we are still waiting for the next catastrophe.

Yeah, I'm probably too  today to be reasonable. And I don't even have mentioned the possibility to bomb these countries after these deliberate ecological attacks :)

What if both parties (buyer/seller) were responsible for the transportation and the financial cost of proper cleaning + fees to affected country, etc.. It doesn't help the ecology, but maybe they'd think about it a bit more. I don't know anything about the current laws regarding any of this, if there even are any. It won't happen as long as people buy cheapest. "Look, I got this new foobarfangledim!" "How much did it cost?" It's capitalism, but it's silly.

How about Exxon Valdez in 1989? Michel It is a lovely language, but it takes a very long time to say anything in it, because we do not say anything in it, unless it is worth taking a very long time to say, and to listen to.

Yep, also, I was just listing the ones on our coasts. But you're right, these ships don't sink only here. How many here have seen the results of a tanker shipwreck ?

I think that trowing its contents over the garden of the guy that owns it (and the guys that owns this kind of ships have huge gardens in front of their huge houses :)) is a better choice. -- Looking for a new screen-saver? Try FOYD: http://digilander.iol.it/FOYD

I'm surprised the French didn't send in their secret service to do the job... "The folly of man is that he dreams of what he can never achieve rather than dream of what he can."
