I installed a DivX player this morning to watch a bit of missed Futurama. Two hours later I wanted to get some info on SQL, so i typed www.microsoft.com/sql into the URL and clicked enter. A second later up popped this! A bloody GAIN (related to Gator ware) pop-up application advert. Advertising Oracle nog all. So this thing must be monitoring everything I type into IE, waiting to match keywords. That is just annoying to the extreme. Thank the lord for Ad-Aware.

Yeah, all hail adaware :) (Incidentially, I did see one bit of crapware attached to an app that would automatically un-install adaware for you! Surely doing stuff like that is somewhat illegal) -- Help me! I'm turning into a grapefruit!

Yeah, I'm not terribly impressed with the way MSN 5 keeps bringing up adds to purchase Christmas presents online since the upgrade to it either. :(

I've said it before, and I'll say it again - get Trillian - it's free (at least the free version is free ;P) and doesn't contain any adverts whatsoever, unlike the "real" clients it replaces And Trillian Pro is nice too :) Anyway... Talk about Gator... DAMN FUCKING spyware I say!!!! I never thought it could do something, but it could! After awhile there was a damn calendar app in my systray!! and later there was a... hm.. don't remember but it was an unwanted app! It could install apps that I didn't want. I couldn't uninstall it (surprising?) so I marked all files that belonged to Gator and pressed Del.. then I made a reboot and voila! All my apps in the Program dir was gone! When I had started moving importent files to my dads computer I finally found a dir named NULL. Opened it and saw all my programs in there!! Thank someone I got them back! The adware is part of licensing cost to use the B-Frame & MPEG4 encoding abilties. Using AD aware will render your divx useless sooner or later (yes I have tried that too), so if you dont need encoding (with adv features) stick to normal DivX. Else, you can kill the cme.sys (or something like that) and gain_trickler3201.exe via task manager. :) DBHelper - SQL Stored Procedure Wrapper & Typed DataSet Generator for .NET
