    Red is also the colour associated with "stop", as in "stop and look before you proceed". Sometimes people need to do that more often.

      Red is also a rather nasty color to look at on a bright LCD screen! :-) A darker orange shade or green would have worked better I'd think.

        It's not as harsh now. As the sincerest form of flattery I have copied the colours from GMail. No doubt they have spent billions on determining exactly the right shade of red - one that alerts, without alarming.

                One has to stop and think twice before pressing cancel, as data might get lost inadvertantly. Pressing post is the normal operation, and it can be undone, that is what the delete widget is for. Applying red for the normal use is as silly as using a Start button to shutdown a computer. :wtf:
