I didn't do the actual embroidery. I pay under-age French children $1 per month to do the embroidery. After their 18-hour shifts end, I chain them to poles in their cells, and I feed them as little as possible. ------- signature starts "...the staggering layers of obscenity in your statement make it a work of art on so many levels." - Jason Jystad, 10/26/2001 Please review the Legal Disclaimer in my bio. ------- signature ends

John Simmons, Karl will you two please stop attacking each other? Exercise some civility, please. Such discussions can be done without bashing each other. Now as for the fate of Trent Lott. I think he should resign. Not because he's racist, but because people say he's racist. More important than reality is perception. And this perception will only hurt the Republican party if Lott stays in his position. For a black man to call a white man a racist is almost certain political death. Whether the accusation is true or not, does not matter. It is perception that is important. Americans have long ago ceased to thoroughly study details and have gravitated toward hype and catchy statements. In actuality, is Trent Lott a racist? Probably not. Lott explicitly praises Strom Thurmond's presidential bid. It could be racist. It could also be an example of generosity to Thurmond's 100th birthday. Lott's one statement has too much ambiguity to determine Lott as being a racist. Even if we bring in Lott's statements from other years, there's very little to indicate that Lott is a racist. That stuff about Lott opposing affirmative action does not indicate racism. I'm Chinese American and I oppose affirmative action. I'm not racist. The reason why people say Lott is racist is because the black victimization mindset forces the interpretation of things that should remain ambiguous. A white man can never contradict a black man. The black man uses victim sympathy to sway listeners. Lott's statements have only made him look worse, not better. Only a minority member can counter another minority member. A white man does not stand a chance. Lott's fate is almost certainly sealed. His prospects are dim.

So not allowing a person of a different race to drink from the same water fountain as you is a "crime against humanity"? From this statement alone, I think we should never let the French run anything. It may be a crime, but not against humanity. KaЯl wrote: You mean if they start lynching people again ? Exactly.

Karl thinks its a crime against humanity to even express that segregation is ok. Are we going to have the thought police come knocking on everyone's door now? We all have our likes and dislikes. We all self-segregate when we hang out with certain people and exclude others. Segregation is not right, but I don't believe it is a crime against humanity. We also hurt the person or people we commit the crime against and many others may be affected as well. But our system does not punish evil doers on the same scale as God does.

I couldn't disagree more. It's a crime against us all. Segregation is the tool of evil. :(( There's also no need to shout. I may not respect what you say (in fact I violently disagree with your sentiments, and in particular your inferred slur on the French), but I'm not shouting at you, am I? Anna :rose: www.annasplace.me.uk

About my "inferref slur" on the French, its a common practice to pick on the poor French people, but I bear no ill will towards them. Maybe you shouldn't jump to conclusions.

Jason Henderson wrote: violence? isn't that a crime against humanity? I was rather upset by you shouting at me when I wrote that. Strongly would be a better term, and more descriptive of my character. Jason Henderson wrote: Why would you violently disagree with my sentiments? What are you implying about me? Do you think I'm a racist or a segregationist? If so, you have it all wrong, but I'll play along just to get the truth out. In truth, no. But that's not the image you've portrayed in this thread. As one who has to be very careful about people's perception of myself for fear of violence or worse I'm quite careful about doing that - it's only when something really upsets me that you'll see me lash out. Jason Henderson wrote: About my "inferred slur" on the French, its a common practice to pick on the poor French people, but I bear no ill will towards them. I'm sure you truly don't, but the fact that you're having a disagreement with Karl over possible racism in this thread doesn't make that appear to be the case. Again, it's all about others perception of you. I hope you'll agree that we've beaten this thread into submission now, and its time to move on. May God Bless you and have a wonderful Christmas. :rose: Anna :rose: www.annasplace.me.uk
