This coffee press looks great on your table. It's elegant, and you don't have the spewing, sputtering sounds of a coffee maker. However, using it requires more work than your usual coffee maker. You must boil water in a separate pot, put coffee in the press, let coffee sit, then press the mesh filter to push the grounds down to the bottom of the pot. The coffee always remains in contact with the grounds, which results in a strong cup of coffee (especially if you don't drink it all right away). Cleaning the press is also difficult. You can't let coffee sit in the press. In order to really clean it, you must take apart the filter, which has several parts to it. I don't use my press anymore because the metal parts continue to retain some odor from previous use. Soaking it for several days helps, but who has the time for that? Bottom line: buy this for looks only. If you're looking for something that's easy to use and care for, buy a regular coffee maker.
Good grief - How difficult is it to fill and boil a kettle, rather than filling and turning on a coffee machine? Or is the extra effort of pouring the water from the kettle just too much hassle? Also cleaning it isn't a problem at all - pour out the grounds, wash the jug, unscrew the filter and wash the parts - that'd take a few seconds (and there's no reason why it can't just all go in a dishwasher) -- Help me! I'm turning into a grapefruit!

The big problem with Amazon ratings is you have no idea how stupid the person who wrote the review was. Look for a book called Javascript goodies on Amazon, and read the reviews. All the ones before mine are glowing, proving only that the people who bought the book are as stupid as the author is. The main problem with this kind of cafetières is IMO standing in the quality of the ring which ensures the tightness between the mesh filter and the glass. However the taste of coffee is very good, hwich often begis to leak when going older. For me, the best coffees are made with espresso machines. Good ones are also made by what we call here "italian coffe maker"[^] (don't know if this term is international :))

I was going to reply but really, ugh, I have to press like three different buttons and select the text I want to quote and then I have to press another button and wadda wadda wadda poor me, so hard. I am definitley going back to just thinking nasty replies and then not posting them, much easier, though my head hurts sometimes so maybe I should get my mother to do it for me, she types well... I heard a lady complaining at a local fast food joint because they took 7 minutes to prepare three burgers, three packets of chips and a salad. People get sadder ever day :)
