WSO2 and Mobile Telecom Guest Presenter to Conduct Case Study Webinar on Agile, Mobile Services Development via an SOA

WSO2 will be joined by guest presenter Two Degrees Mobile on May 17, for a technical webinar to explore mobile services innovations enabled by WSO2 Carbon middleware
Palo Alto, CA – May 9, 2012 – Mobile telecommunications companies cannot afford to compete simply on cost. Instead, they need to raise the bar on innovation to attract new subscribers and encourage customer loyalty. A case in point is Two Degrees Mobile Limited (2degrees), which entered the saturated New Zealand mobile market in 2009 and now counts one-sixth of the country’s population as its subscribers.
WSO2 will be joined by 2degrees (http://www.2degreesmobile.co.nz) to conduct a case study webinar on the implementation of a service-oriented architecture (SOA) using WSO2 Carbon middleware (http://wso2.com/products/carbon), which has been central to the mobile company’s success. Through the SOA, 2degrees has rolled out leading-edge services—such as service top-up via Facebook and a data plan delivered and activated via a USB drive. Additionally, the mobile company is able to respond to competitors’ offers with its own new plans in as little as a day.
The one-hour free webinar entitled, “WSO2 & 2degrees Case Study – Using WSO2 Carbon to Help Convert One-Sixth of New Zealand’s Population into Mobile Telecom Customers,” will run Thursday, May 17, from 9:00 a.m. – 10:00 a.m. PST. The webinar will examine how 2degrees developed and launched its mobile services in 18 months using the WSO2 Enterprise Service Bus (WSO2 ESB) to manage its service mediation and orchestration. Additionally, the session will review 2degrees’ architecture and how the mobile telecom provider has added other WSO2 Carbon middleware to develop, expand and enhance its mobile services. Among those discussed will be WSO2 Data Services Server, which exposes data as Web services to quickly bring competitive mobile plans to market, and WSO2 Business Process Server for services requiring advanced orche
