Damn, I always knew I was born ten years too early. What an, er, interesting idea. Can't they just use "charge cards" to tackle the problem like my school did? If you could afford the meals yourself you turned up early of a morning and paid money onto your card, else the school would pay you an allowance, and then you just use it like a credit card to make food purchases. Worked like a charm and I bet it cost significantly less than retinal scanners! I don't recall anyone getting picked on for being poor with that system.

Sounds interesting. Maybe a "cashless" school would also reduce bullying. However I'm sure there are simplier ways, unless they want to avoid theft and fraud - a retina scan is pretty safe unless they kids have watched Demolition Man too many times Michael You gotta roll with it You gotta take your time You gotta say what you say Don't let anybody get in your way - Oasis

I noticed it is a school in sunderland. which no doubt means they no books, even if they have a retina scanning machine (It can't be much better than here just down the road in teesside)... Does this sound like money being spent on the wrong things? www.beachwizard.com/travelogue[^] "I spent a lot of my money on booze, birds and fast cars. The rest I just squandered" George Best.

Now instead of the victim just being beaten up, his lunch money stolen and then left alone he will be dragged to the cafeteria by the hair and his eyes shoved into a reader by the bully as well. Michael P Butler wrote: Demolition Man too many times Or Minority Report. What I don't get though is a: surely retina scanners in that future can detect non-living eyeballs and b: surely the "Look out for these eyes, arrest on sight" message had reached that back door scanner.

I bet some company is providing this equipment in exchange for beta testing and fine tuning, then they'll turn it into a marketing blurb, proving their technology works. Marc Help! I'm an AI running around in someone's f*cked up universe simulator.
