Online System Using Web Technology ???
-
Is web technology suitable to do accounting ? I see a lot of accounting applications written in VC,VB but I rarely see applications built on web technology. I am working for a bank. And I think it is much easier to build an online banking system using web technology than other technology. Thank you for your Interest.

Yep, you can build on line accounting apps. There are a couple of companies doing this now that are fairly successful. Take a look at http://www.intacct.com Oracle has a suite online as well as intuit. Hope this helps

Users already know how to use the internet, so training is at a minimum. Also, they can access the application from anywhere, not just their machine. I am working for a financial services firm whose entire application is served via the web. But this is still probably not as interesting as what your bank do online. :)
A pack of geeks, pale and skinny, feeling a bit pumped and macho after a morning of strenuous mouse clicking and dragging, arriving en masse at the gym. They carefully reset the machines to the lowest settings, offer to spot for each other on the 5 lb dumbells, and rediscover the art of macrame while attempting to jump rope. -Roger Wright on my colleagues and I going to gym each day at lunch

Where formerly it just displayed the check numbers that had cleared, as of last week there is an icon on each line that displays an image of the actual check! No more waiting for 10 days (and paying $3) to get a paper copy... We've come a long way from the 300 baud, text-based "online banking" of the early '80s!:-D As to accounting, I believe that Quickbooks sells an online accounting service, including payroll services, that users can subscribe to. That's an idea that makes me nervous, sending all my financial info over the web and entrusting strangers to keep it private.:suss: But the technology is certainly capable, and quite appropriate for accounting applications. Nobody wants to read a diary by someone who has not seen the shadow of Bubba on the prison shower wall in front of them!
