Your first impression [moved and merged]

I am developing a web application since last 6 months, which is now ready to launch. It's a Project Management System hosted on Windows Azure. I think it is very useful and I am very excited. But before I start marketing, I would like to get your first impression. Would you like to evaluate my application on your spare time? Please let me know, what do you think. I will be very grateful to share the details. :) I will use the Code Project Email functionality to send you the details, if you have disabled that feature, please email me your contact information using the same Email functionality, and I will revert back. Thanks!
Old Thread on The Lounge I am developing a web application since last 6 months, which is now ready to launch. I think it is very useful and I am very excited. But before I start marketing, I would like to get first impression of people, who's opinion matters to me. (I have list of 15 Code Project Members) Now the question is, Is it consider as spam, if I contact them using Code Project 'Email' functionality? I promise, I will only contact these 15 members and only once. All I need is few lines of their first impression. (Because I do not have any other way of contacting them. and I am the only person working on this.) Would you like to evaluate my application on your spare time? Please let me know, what do you think. :) It's a Project Management System hosted on Windows Azure, if you are interested in taking a look, please let me know. I will be very grateful to share the details. Thanks! :)

You might want to post this on the Collaboration/Beta Testing forum. That is the appropriate place for a question like this. If you email a forum member uninvited, they may well be hostile, and this will give a negative opinion of your product regardless of how good it is. Indeed, you may find that some of the members you want to contact have disabled email notifications.

That makes sense, but it will be very difficult to get attention of even half of these 15 members. But I agree with you. Otherwise, I have prepared an email message of less than 5 lines with a link to this thread, they don't have to even signup. (as I do not want waste time / sell my product to them) Thanks Pete.

:omg: Wow, the world is getting crazy. To which extent should a PM be spam ? It is like if you had to ask permission for talking to someone. Do not be overcautious, for God's sake. People won't accuse you of spam if you formulate a polite PM to ask for their help, but they are true weirdos, and have a bizarre understanding of the community. Plus, if they would not want any hassle like this, they would have had disabled the Private Mail feature. So do not hesitate, this is your project, go ! (And would I understand the slightest thing about Azure, I would have proposed my help, but Azure is for me a mere synonym of blue and nothing else).

I just wanted to confirm, I do not want people report me as spam, and terminate my account. (you have no idea how hard I worked to get my 20k rep points in this last decade :-D ) But now I am confused. Also the application is ready and working, and has nothing to do with Azure. I just need some confidence before I start marketing it. So if you want to take a look, I will be happy to send you details (PM me and I will revert back).

If it's an unsolicited email, it's spam - especially if you're asking for help. I got so sick of getting unsolicited mails from people on this site asking for help that I switched off my email facilities.
