Proving that giving away free software is not the road to profitability, French Linux distributor Mandrake filed for their equivalent of chapter 11.

    Hah hah.

    McDonalds sued over evil burrito.

 If the burrito looked weird, maybe you might think about not eating it?!!?!!?!?????!!! --Mike-- I'm bored... Episode I bored. 1ClickPicGrabber - Grab & organize pictures from your favorite web pages, with 1 click! My really out-of-date homepage Sonork-100.19012 Acid_Helm

The whole concept of freeware or open source is evil. It means hobbyists and academics can stifle the earnings of true dedicated professionals. Regardz Colin J Davies

I think open source can work without damaging commercial prospects, Look at IBM's Eclipse[^]project. It uses a license that permits commercial use (and defines how commercial users must behave to limit liability for non-commercial authors of code. Really areasonably well thaought out (from the legal side) approach to open-source development in an "available for commercial use" environment. I do agree however that the majority of open source projects (GPL, BSD licence etc.) end up being harmful. Most companies will not allow the use of open source stuff in their products because of the infectious nature of most "Open" source licences. I f you uuse the code, uyou must become Open source yourself.. Some ideas are so stupid that only an intellectual could have thought of them - George Orwell

Colin's posts rarely reflect his actual opinion. He presumes people know him well enough to spot the sarcasm. Christian No offense, but I don't really want to encourage the creation of another VB developer. - Larry Antram 22 Oct 2002
C# will attract all comers, where VB is for IT Journalists and managers - Michael P Butler 05-12-2002
Again, you can screw up a C/C++ program just as easily as a VB program. OK, maybe not as easily, but it's certainly doable. - Jamie Nordmeyer - 15-Nov-2002
