"Hardware"...what my friends and I used to call a "Tony Turkey" after the guy who picked them. :rolleyes: The best jape I witnessed was when an old friend of mine (who shall remain nameless) was wound up to expect the other guys were coming back with a blue movie from the video rental place...only to find out they'd rented a Winny the Pooh movie instead. I'm with Paul here. Black Hawk Down was a tremendous movie. I was expecting the PH "rah-rah-U-S-A" crap, but was thoroughly blown away. Then again, I much prefer war movies that make war look like war and not like a hollywood production. Full Metal Jacket was another good one. Pearl Harbour blew. J

Hate to break it to you David but stuff like that does happen. I have read many instances of women and children totting guns in war ravaged areas, picking them up and firing at whomever. Women are not all saints you know. Just over the border in Zambia kids as young as nine walk around with Kaleshnikovs terrorising anyone who tries to stop them. Frankly I disagree with your impression of the movie. I came away with the feeling that the yanks really cocked it up. There was very little ra-ra, patriotic, American Might Is Right nonense. For heavens sake, the UN had to come in and save their bacon. Of course it was not 100% accurate, no movie or book or grandpa is every going to be that. And I can assure you with first hand experience that the scenes you see where the mobs of nuts murder and strip the downed helicopter pilots and the two guys who went into save them are a good reflection of reality. I live in a pretty good part of Africa and have seen scenes like that, luckily I was on the "right" side of police and army barriers. It is scary stuff seeing people act like that. Anyway, all in all I thought BHD was technically excellent. It also was not a total lie like most Hollywood movies. Come to Africa (or go to Eastern Europe) and ask some journalists here what real life is like in places like Somalia, the Congo etc. It is worse than what the movies portray I am sure. Hey, it was a damn good one if so! There's one really memorable bit in it where some guy comes running into a crowd of people and shouts something like "Quick, run away, there's a bunch of giant killer rabbits heading this way!!!".
