2 Kings 17:30-31 "The men of Babylon made Succoth-benoth, the men of Cuth made Nergal, the men of Hamath made Ashima, and the Avvites made Nibhaz and Tartak" "But we totally didn't just make up our own god, everyone made up their own god but ours is better and totes real yo!" Seems legit.

This is an account of people who became wicked and made up their own gods. I suppose you were trying to make a point?

There are only 10 types of people in the world, those who understand binary and those who don't.

Not necessarily. You can read all sorts of interesting things into it though.

The Bible tells of all kinds of people who disobeyed God doing stupid things. That certainly doesn't mean God does not exist. They are warnings. Learn from history or be doomed to repeat.

It reads a lot like "our imaginary friend is better than theirs".

But you miss the whole rest of the Bible. The entire Bible is about God speaking to his prophets. This one little bit you pulled out is about some that strayed from that path.

Well yes, the idea was to quote only a part of it, not the entire thing.. that would have been a little long for a forum post.

Some people in QA post all of their code and it's pretty comparable to the Bible in both length and clarity. :)

Of course almost all christians in the US think it is quite right and proper to pull out only little pieces, and proclaim that those pieces, and no others are the 'important' ones.

You need to get to know more Christians so you can judge properly.

Perhaps it is your circle of acquaintances which is limited and not mine. And you might want to read up a bit on demographics since the vast majority of Christians do not identify themselves as fundamentalists and many do in fact ignore parts of the bible. A very obvious example of that is the divorce rate among Christians.

Divorce isn't forbidden by the Bible, but yes, the rate is way too high, for anyone.
