Of course almost all christians in the US think it is quite right and proper to pull out only little pieces, and proclaim that those pieces, and no others are the 'important' ones.

You need to get to know more Christians so you can judge properly.

Perhaps it is your circle of acquaintances which is limited and not mine. And you might want to read up a bit on demographics since the vast majority of Christians do not identify themselves as fundamentalists and many do in fact ignore parts of the bible. A very obvious example of that is the divorce rate among Christians.
