The brilliant They're Made Out Of Meat[^] is the best way to explain what I am asking for. Are there any fleshed out SF books on this topic? Also are there any non-fiction books on the matter of life unlike our own? It fascinates me to think people believe that we are the only possible form of life (us Earth creatures i.e. plants, animals, insects) and I want to read up on the plausible "alternatives." ta

:laugh::laugh::laugh: Hehe flapping meat sound! "They actually do talk, then. They use words, ideas, concepts?" "Oh, yes. Except they do it with meat." "I thought you just told me they used radio." "They do, but what do you think is on the radio? Meat sounds. You know how when you slap or flap meat it makes a noise? They talk by flapping their meat at each other. They can even sing by squirting air through their meat." "Omigod. Singing meat. This is altogether too much. So what do you advise?" Max.

Nope - it was Life the Universe and Everything. At a cricket match, if I remember right. ;P Mind you, the plot was taken from a script for a Dr. Who episode that never got filmed. ;) Anna :rose: www.annasplace.me.uk

Paul, while not completely fleshed out Larry Niven and Dr. Pournelle's book "The Mote in Gods Eye" is an interesting look at man dealing with a first-contact with a very alien race. Chris Losinger wrote: but yeah, MiGE is great. Too bad all of Niven's new stuff is unbearable. I've managed to force myself to finish "Destiny’s Road" but I can't swallow "Rainbow Mars"...absolute garbage. BTW. Did anybody read Niven and Pournelle's version of Inferno? I just picked a copy of it and it was awesome. "Veni, Vidi, Booyah!" - Ceasar

Paul, while not completely fleshed out Larry Niven and Dr. Pournelle's book "The Mote in Gods Eye" is an interesting look at man dealing with a first-contact with a very alien race. It deals with man and the alien race trying to understand aspects of the others society. http://search.barnesandnoble.com/booksearch/isbnInquiry.asp?userid=52PFMCVHT5&isbn=0671741926&itm=1[^] "Veni, Vidi, Booyah!" - Ceasar
