Too bad all of Niven's new stuff is unbearable. I've managed to force myself to finish "Destiny’s Road" but I can't swallow "Rainbow Mars"...absolute garbage. BTW. Did anybody read Niven and Pournelle's version of Inferno? I just picked a copy of it and it was awesome. "Veni, Vidi, Booyah!" - Ceasar

Paul, while not completely fleshed out Larry Niven and Dr. Pournelle's book "The Mote in Gods Eye" is an interesting look at man dealing with a first-contact with a very alien race. It deals with man and the alien race trying to understand aspects of the others society. http://search.barnesandnoble.com/booksearch/isbnInquiry.asp?userid=52PFMCVHT5&isbn=0671741926&itm=1[^] "Veni, Vidi, Booyah!" - Ceasar

The brilliant They're Made Out Of Meat[^] is the best way to explain what I am asking for. Are there any fleshed out SF books on this topic? Also are there any non-fiction books on the matter of life unlike our own? It fascinates me to think people believe that we are the only possible form of life (us Earth creatures i.e. plants, animals, insects) and I want to read up on the plausible "alternatives." ta

Here's a fun site to explore (at least as far as alternatives go): http://www.zetatalk.com[^] Just be careful not to put too much faith into what you read on the Internet, or anywhere else for that matter. Dave "You can say that again." -- Dept. of Redundancy Dept.
