Workspaces is a project we've been working on for nearly two years. Its core is a system that allows disparate applications to talk to one another, and that allows a user to put together a workspace that combines one or more applications. The current applications supported are a Git client (:;GitMachine) and task/bug tracker (::Tasks) which provide developers with the fundamentals of collaborating on software development projects in a more organized manner. You login to Workspaces using your CodeProject account (it's an automatic login if you're logged into CodeProject.com) and you can invite other members to access (or manage) your projects. By default a workspace will include a Git repository and a Tasks issue tracker / project manager, but it’s up to you as to whether you want to add more than one of each or just stick with one or the other. You can update your articles' code via your favourite Git client, or upload code as per normal as a zip, and others will be able to fork your code and issue pull requests. Your readers will be able to add feature requests and bug reports to your articles and you’ll be able to manage those requests and reports in an organized (and visible) manner. Everything else currently available for articles will remain. However, Workspaces isn't just for articles. It's also for your standalone projects. You can create a Workspace that has as many Git and Tasks instances in it, or just a bar Git repository or just a Task tracking list, and more applications will soon be available. Manage your day to day TODOs for your or your team, use GitMachine as offline storage for your code without attaching the workspace to an article if you wish. And if you want to keep your code or your Tasks private simply make the Workspace private. Pricing for private workspaces is currently $2/month with no limits on the number of private workspaces you own. You don't pay for repositories: you pay to get a premium account that then allows you to own and manage private workspaces. That means if someone has a private workspace and wants you to manage it, you will need to have a premium membership to manage. However, anyone can be invited to view and access private workspaces if they are invited by the owner. The system is deliberately simple. There are few bells and whistles. These are tools that we need and use for our day to day work and that power the backend of CodeProject.com. We wanted to open them up to the community so they could benefit from them outside of just you
