Static splitter not updating pane 0 /0

I would like to move my processing code from static splitter panes to the corresponding views.
I am reusing same view class to do different processing.
I am using UpdateAllViews after I pass a switching parameter to this common view class.
The issue is that the UpdateAllViews skips the first splitter pane. That is in accordance with doc that the sender does not get updated.
Is there a better way to update the row 0 / col 0 spliter pane?
I am thinking about PostMessage with a hint or just creating a dummy splitter pane to act as the missing pane.
Any help would be as always appreciated.
