Not Marvel Comics - ZoneAlarm Pro! I just had an entertaining exchange with them via email, but I'm not the least amused by the outcome. I last upgraded in May, and the program informed me last week that there were new updates that I should download. I tried, and the server refused me! A little checking showed that the update service expired last Nov 30. So I wrote them to ask for a correction - it's supposed to be a one year subscription. The first response was: "Zone Labs does not officially support ZoneAlarm products on servers at this time. ZoneAlarm products are designed specifically for client applications on an endpoint machine. We will provide any developments regarding server support on our Web site." Apparently they have an automated idiot that searches for keywords, and only picked up the fact that I run Win2K Server, not that it's a standalone machine with no clients that has been happily running ZAP for over a year. I wrote back to point out that minor fact, and that they had completely missed the entire issue I was writing about. The next reply was: "Unfortunately there are many differences between client and server operating systems. These are end-user products, and not tested on servers or with any server software, which is why we do not support it. The key gave shows that it expired on 12/01/2002." I KNOW THAT YOU FRIGGING IMBECILES!!!! Can anyone recommend an equal or better product so that I can dump these moronic cretins once and for all? It is ok for women not to like sports, so long as they nod in the right places and bring beers at the right times.

Second vote for Sygate. I'm using the free version and it seems to work pretty well. A lot more configurable than ZA as well.

I've been running McAfee Firewall 3.0 and VS 6.0 with no problems on an XP machine. BW "Gandalf. Yes. That is what they used to call me. Gandalf the Grey. *I* am Gandalf the White." - Gandalf the White
