Wow, I am impressed, hospitals have really improved over the years. My dad (went into hospital last night) had three choices for breakfast, two for lunch and two for dinner. And they were all good tasting, with metal utensils even! Even the hospital itself is great. Each room has it's own little balcony looking into a central court area with a fountain burbling away, trees, shrubs etc. All very calming and not at all like a normal hospital. Plus there is no hospital green anywhere, all blue now. :-D The hospitals I have been in during my life (not too often, meningitis when I was yay high, two hernias, tonsels removed and some weird nerve pinch thing in my leg) were nothing like this. In fact no matter how bad I felt I always made sure to get out before night came so I could sleep at home rather (except meningitis, I was 8 months old and hardly able to tell the orderly to book me out!) So now, at least for me, both hospitals and airlines have good food and good board. We need to find new subjects for cliches!

I have flown South African Airways, British Airways and Virgin Atlantic and they all had damned good food IMO. BA had the best food. VA had the best service. SAA rocks because it is South African... :-D BTW, why do they call it Virgin Atlantic when the flight I take flies over Africa, the Med, Europe and then the UK?

Despite what the papers like to print about the NHS, the food they serve is top class too. When my granddad was in there I got a chance to read through that day's menu - I've seen a poorer choice at a posh restaurant! A new generation of kids is growing up who are puzzeled by the old question "do you like hospital food?", because in most cases it is ten times better than the food they get at home.

These people are the same people who produce Virgin Cola, Virgin Music, etc. :) Thanks Notorious. I actually do know about Virgin (Sir Richard Branson) and all. Virgin Atlantic is the airline side of the Virgin megacorp and is used to flying over the Atlantic between Europe and America. My question was more tongue in cheek than serious. After all, flying over Africa is hardly flying over the Atlantic, so shouldn't it be Virgin Africa? ;)

I was in an NHS hospital today, and all I got was a cup of coffee:) Admittedly I was there for a meeting... And it was very good coffee...
