Thanks Paul, what do ya think chances of SA making it to supersix :-) Its sad to see people burning posters of cricketers(no exceptions, even tendulkar got burned :(( ) and is making headlines. How are people reacting to the defeats so far, I know its nothing like it is in India. I hope we win the remaining matches and making it to the supersix. Cheers Kannan

Obviously most of us are sad about the whole thing. We want our boys to do well and we are disapointed and realise that something needs to change (even though we have come up against two inspired batting performances, first Lara and then Fleming.) But most of us still support them and cheer them on. Not as proud as before but still behind them. No giving up on them, they need our support more than ever (just as the India players do) :) Kannan Kalyanaraman wrote: what do ya think chances of SA making it to supersix Not too good IMO. We have to win all our remaining games (not too hard) but then the Windies have to beat Sri Lanka as well for us to get through. I don't like relying on other teams to win or loose to get through. Plus Sri Lanka will probably beat the Windies. Ah well.

Megan Forbes wrote: After all, cricket is still a game No, here in India Cricket is a religion. A religion where about 999999985 people watch and 15 people participate, of which 11 are the most active participants. All the action has to come through these 11 people. People are not angry because we lost, but because we lost so miserably (of course some people are also angry just because we lost, but then there always are exceptions). People are angry because they feel that they spend all their time doing ads and endorsing products and performing in shows and what not. People are angry because they feel they have been let down. By doing all the protest marches, burning photos, posters and effigies, they are just venting out their anger and the frustration of not being able to do anything themselves. You won't understand how important Cricket is in the life of Indians till you have spent some time here. :) And yeah, one more thing. There is an SMS based campaign going on here which is asking people not to buy products endorsed by cricketers. That'll teach them to stop doing ads and concentrate on Cricket instead. We don't want to see how good they look on the camera. They are not models for gods sake! They are Cricketers and that's what we want them to do, plain and simple.

In that case it's understandable (although I wouldn't like to be caught in the middle of it!). I often wonder how the English football team can lose a game without an uproar - some of them are paid £250000 a week, or so I'm told. Seems hard to believe! IMO burning effigies and posters and taking out protest marches are still OK to an extent (atleast they don't do any damage), but throwing stones and tar and cowdung and what not at players' homes is too much. People have also threatened them to come back with the cup or else don't come back at all. This is getting out of hand. The situation will get even more nasty if we lose the match against Zimbabwe tomorrow. And please read my response to Megan for my take on the issue.

I have friends who have been to various area's of India, and loved it (except the trains, one got cholera while waiting 3 days for a train and ended up in hospital  ). Also, photo's my grandparents took make the jungle look awesome, although they are all brown and white, so the colours have to be imagined. :)

(iow. damned freezing!!!!) Actually not too bad today. Bit hot in the afternoon but nothing too major. Got a frikkin wasp buzzing about the office though, nice big yellow and black one. Last week it started making a nest on our router! I kid you not. Now it is flying about the back of my PC, so if I go offline you know why.
